My chihuahua was diagnosed with an enlarged heart 5 years ago. I did not want to put her on medication. I tried many supplements and herbs but none of them really worked that well. I finally tried this supplement because it not only had hawthorn berry but also garlic and gingko biloba which I read were important for heart health. After trying it for a week I noticed she no longer coughed as much and her lungs no longer filled up with fluid. I have had her on it for a few months now and there are no episodes anymore. I recently took her to the vet and she checked her heart and lungs. She only has a small heart murmur (which she said was normal for a 12 year old dog) and her lungs were free and clear which they never were prior to this supplement. It is amazing and I could not be without it for her. She seems to like the taste of it and it is easy to administer (I just mix it in some yogurt). It is a good value as I have spent a great deal of money on trying a protocol of other products. This is the only one needed other than a CoQ10 supplement. If you have a pet with heart issues I highly recommend you try it.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin. This stuff is a miracle. My 14 yr old border collie mix had been in declining health for some time. A week ago she became completely physically and cognitively enfeebled. She was literally gone from me. It turns out she has canine dementia. It seemed so sudden, but looking back I realize what I had considered her just "getting old" was actually a developing cognitive disorder. My wife and I had decided this was no life and so were going to put her down. In desperation I went online and found a youtube video by a "Matt Williams." The young man recounted how a mixture of herbs had reversed his dog's dementia. I really didn't believe it, but had nothing to lose. So I ordered the herbs. Not wanting to wait over a weekend, I managed to find this product in a local pet supply store. So I started my dog on it last week After giving it to her on a weds night, the next morning she got up and ate her food, something she had not done in several days. But that was just the beginning. Over the next 48 hrs my girl came back to me from the abyss. Since then one of the other herbal tinctures has come in from Amazon, a calming tincture and I have my girl on this and the calming solution. Yesterday I took her for an hour and a half walk in a state park. She chased a bunny (we were far away from the rangers, what can I say) and she stared down her mortal enemies, the coyotes. She ran in a stream of water. It's not just that she is back from near catatonia, but she is acting like she did a year ago. It's as if she has gotten a year younger before my eyes. Honestly, I don't even know how to describe this, the difference and change has been so dramatic. If I could give this product 20 stars I would! At least for the time being, my girl is back!!! If you google "dog dementia herbal cure" or something like that, Matt Williams' youtube video will come up. If you have an aging dog that is in cognitive decline, you will really want to see this video and get this stuff immediately. I don't know if it will have the same effect on every dog, but the results for mine have been stunning. This is an update on my review (4/29/15). I told 4 people to try this product for their dogs and they agreed to tell me the results. I wanted to know if my dog was unique in her response to this product. Three of the people have gotten back to me. I would have considered it significant if even one of their dogs responded positively to Hawthorn Plus in treating dementia. Well, so far all three have told me their dogs have gotten significantly better on Apawthecary Hawthorn Plus. None of us know if this will last, or for how long, or if complications might come up. But we were all at the end of our ropes. This product has just been the best thing to happen to my dog in a long time.

This is a photo of fester and london.. Fester had heart failure and was given only 6 months to live. We decided to try this to help with his congestion that came along with his heart giving out. He didn't mind the taste of it. I just basically sat over him, held his head up and squirted it far in his mouth. He got use to me giving him this twice a day. His chest sounded clearer and he was getting more oxygen. Looking at his gums I could see how pink they had gotten. He lived for another 2 years before he crossed the rainbow bridge. Happy,, playful, snuggled and chased the little dog at times, haha. We have purchased this again due to our other girl kitty, london, that is 14 years old. We can hear the congestion in her chest so we decided to start her on this. Giving it to her will be eventful but that's OK. From our last experience with this I'm sure that it will work for her as well. I do highly recommend this product. It might seem a little pricey for such a little bottle but it really is worth it. Other comparable products cost more. We are not sitting nicely with funds but we make it work because i know that this product works so well. Will continue to purchase as our pets get older and need a little help to live their best life.

My Miniature Schnauzer was diagnosed with Canine Cognitive Disorder Syndrome (Doggie Dementia) after receiving an MRI. I have tried a few things with him including Science Diet's BD (Brain Diet) Food, which I saw great improvement with him after switching. He is also on Anapryl & Omeprazole per the Neurologist. After reading about how Hawthorne Oil (which has Ginko Biloba) has been used to help with sleeping and the pacing associated with this disorder, I purchased the Animal Essential Heart Health for my boy. He started it in around September. I just finished the first bottle with him. But last week he had an episode where he became so weak and lethargic he couldn't get up from a lying down position. He also was running a fever of 103.3. I immediately took him to the vet. They looked him over and said that they could not find anything wrong with him, but to watch his fever and if it went up or didn't come down on it's own to call them and they would start him on a general antibiotic. His fever did come down on his own that evening...but then he threw up...and his stomach started gurgling...and he was very gassy...he definitely had some intestinal discomfort going on. I decided that night and that I would discontinue the use of the Animal Essentials Heart Health for a while since his stomach seemed upset. He progressively got better until he was back to himself with in 2 days of stopping this. I continued to withhold it (approximately 5 days) then resumed last night. I woke up to him flailing around unable to get up from a lying down position again. I called my vet and they asked that I read the ingredients off to them. So I did. She was alarmed to know that this item has Garlic in it and that it has been shown to be toxic in dogs. I will not be using this any more as a result of my experience with it. I will say that it did help with his sleeping and pacing, but I am concerned about the toxicity from the garlic in this solution. I feel as though this garlic built up to toxic levels in my dog...although I have no proof other than the clinical signs of toxicity that happen when I resumed the use of this product and alternately the improvement when I stopped. So use with caution. And to the manufacturer, I would try this product again if you would remove all garlic from the solution.

Good product - but pricey

I bought this for my dog that was diagnosed with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (doggie dementia). It has really helped her. Her symptoms were getting bad. She would pant uncontrollably, get very anxious, pace and walk circles around the kitchen island, get stuck behind furniture or in closets, have accidents in the house, have a blank look on her face and act very confused with tasks that were very normal for her. Since starting her on it a month ago she does not pace or get stuck behind furniture or in closets, she still pants some but not nearly as bad and her licking has slowed down. She has only had a couple of accidents in the house, she doesn't have that blank stare on her face or look lost and she is not nearly as anxious anymore. I wish I had known sooner what was going on with her because I would have started her on this sooner. There are pharmaceuticals for this condition but they don't have a very good track record and there are bad side effects that come alone with them. I give the product 5 stars but have to give Amazon 1 stars for the way they sent it. The first bottle, which is glass, came USPS and in a lightly padded manila envelope. Needles to say it was crushed and broken to bits. I called and they did overnight another one and she promised they would put it in a box. It did come the next day by UPS and it was in the same lightly padded manila envelope! Fortunately UPS was kinder and gentler in their handling and it was not broken.

This is one of the better companies and I have used many of their products. This worked amazingly well and the price is not bad at all. This seemed to help some with her ccd too.

We have a 10-year oldish poodle/schnauzer mix who recently developed symptoms of canine dementia. He would hide in inappropriate or far away areas of the house (in the laundry room, behind the furnace, under beds, behind the toilet, etc.). When let outside, he'd stand in the corner of the yard even as you called him, confused as to what to do, not responding to commands even when I tried bribing him with a treat (extremely unlike him as he is highly food motivated). He lost much of his personality traits and exhibited signs of anxiety as well. It was heartbreaking. Debatable effect

I don’t know if it’s helping completely because my dog is really sick. He has CHF, a heart murmur, hypothyroidism, a collapsed trachea, and fluid build up in his lungs from the heart failure. I use it to supplement all of the prescribed medications I give him and it seems to soothe him. He stops coughing and relaxes. When I took him to the vet, she said he had less fluid in his left lung than before, so it’s possible that this is helping his heart function better. I will continue to use and see if it helps him more.
