A fun novelty
This product comes with everything you need to make and season a lot of halloumi-style cheese, which I haven't had much of previously. I was surprised it could be made in just a few hours. The catch is that you need unhomogenised milk (gold cap) which isn't common. The booklet that comes with this product has instructions for making the cheese and beer-battering it, and also for making ale-washed "squeaky curds". You don't have to use beer to make the basic cheese, though, and I would tend not to. The whole booklet is well-written and detailed. This is an interesting activity, but since it makes 12 batches of about 600g of halloumi, you definitely need to like the cheese to make full use of it. On the other hand, though, you can have plenty of practice runs.

Great gift idea
This cheesemaking set is well presented and would make a nice gift. You can make halloumi-style cheese or โsqueakyโ cheese within a few hours. This is a very basic type of cheese which does not have to be matured. As well as the flavouring, the kit includes vegetarian rennet (expensive stuff), a thermometer, a cheese cloth and good clear instructions. You need to supply 4 litres of gold top milk for each batch (makes 600g of cheese) and there is enough rennet here for 12 batches. The rennet comes in the form of a little pill which you have to quarter; the rest can be frozen until needed. The whole process requires some care over the temperatures but reassuringly the instructions say that if your efforts appear to be going wrong, not to worry it should come right in the end. There are also instructions for making a beer-based batter in which to deep fry the cheese. I will have to skip this as I donโt do deep frying - maybe you could do this in an air fryer? It does look very tasty. Alternatively, you can soak it in beer as part of the cheesemaking process and impart the flavour that way.

Demystifies the blessed art of cheesemaking...
With Christmas on the horizon, this smartly packaged Beer Lover's Cheese Making Kit from The Big Cheese Making Kits could make a perfect unusual gift for foodies. In the pack is a recipe booklet and all that's needed - except the milk - to make no fewer than 12 batches of cheese. You have the option here to make 2 different types of cheese - Cypriot-style and Ale Washed Squeaky Cheese Curds. The USP here is that both cheeses go really well with a cold beer. Which means that here's a foodie gift that could be equally suitable for men and women given the wide appeal of beer. I've had this company's Scottish Crowdie Kit previously and, like this, it was excellent as well as being reasonably priced. This kit gives you the knowledge and skills to make the 2 cheeses. Should you then wish to continue making it after the 12 batches, you'll discover from this kit exactly what's required - all of which can be purchased in future. The kit even includes a thermometer and butter muslin along with organic sea salt, vegetarian rennet, mint, paprika and lemon pepper. Cheesemaking sounds so complicated - this kit demystifies it.

Easy to follow instructions.
A basic starter cheese making kit, basically to get you interested in it, then you can branch out now you have the basic tools. The kit comes complete with organic sea salt, a length of butter muslin, a milk thermometer, 3 tablets of vegetarian rennet to set the cheese, and 10g packets each of mint, paprika, and lemon pepper, to flavour your cheese. The kit comes with an easy to follow instruction booklet, with two recipes for cheese and two ideas on how to use the cheese you have made, including beer battered cheese. Iโve made cheese before, mainly from milk thatโs on the turn, cottage cheese in fact, and Iโve always wanted to make other sorts of cheese, so this is a great starting point. A great gift idea for the person that has everything. Iโm happy to recommend.

Great kits and so easy to make
I have tried a few of these kits and they are so easy to make. The instructions are easy to follow also. If you haven't tried cheese making then these kits are an ideal place to start. The instructions take you through each step and it really is very simple I love these kits. There's also enough ingredients left to make more after your first batch Perfect gifts for someone who has everything or loves to try new things. I can't recommend them enough

nice cheese kit
Nice kit, but the paprika wasn't sealed, do it was all over the inside - I have more paprika, so not a total loss.

Gift goes awry
Gave this to my dad as a Christmas gift because we like giving experiences or new skill things as gifts in my family. He has plenty of experience with beer and wine making, as well as fermentations and sourdough so i figured this wasn't a major leap. Even with that and following the instructions to a T (which finding the milk to use for the kit involved going to a specialty shop the next city over) and he still didn't get it to work. Generally i would say user error, but i'm not sure this is the case. The rennet was close to date, so i don't know if that was part of the issue as well. He had tried the Halloumi and said he will try the other cheese to see if he had better luck with it. I'll update if it goes better.

Question yourself
It wasnโt very well thought through. Was too complex for me. It probably was a good product butt not for me
