Canyon Rose is brighter than I thought it would be but still a nice color. Have probably 5 different colors of Julep balms. My lips are always dry and the balm really hydrates. I never wear lipstick anymore and only wear balms. This looks like lipstick and compared to other balms last a long time. It’s not a long-wearing lipstick so you may have to reapply a couple of times during the day but it is so hyrdrating and beautiful colors that I don’t care if I had to reapply 5 times it’s worth it.

I ordered Dusty Orchid Shimmer on a whim. I don’t usually spend $14.95 on lip color at this point in my life(I used to buy top of the line make up from department stores). I have to say this is a nice product! It’s worth the money because the color is great and flattering, it’s not sticky nor Does it disappear Immediately after you put it on. The color is buildable, but then it comes off more easily. It’s moisturizing and the color lasts if you don’t go crazy with it. There are several colors I’d love to try. But I think I’ll try this one out for longer than a couple of days before I invest in more. But if you feel like treating yourself to a nice moisturizing lip color, I say go for it with this product! I do use a lip liner with it, as with other, sheer Or moisturizing lip products because I’m 56 and my lip outline can use a little boost to keep it neat and keep the color in place. I used a neutral Sephora lip balm with it and it was fine. The color blended and didn’t look weird. It looked natural but finished in attractive way! I don’t like to include photos with my reviews, but if I was going to, this would be a product that I would take a selfie with (If I took selfies regularly and not just to make sure look OK and then delete the photo). I looked too much like my mom and my dad in selfies for my own comfort, even though I’m MUCH thinner than either of them! Too thin to feel comfortable with random photos of myself. Blah, blah, blah! My point here is that it’s a great product so far and if you want a nice product without going overboard, I highly recommend this. Even without trying it on, and only a photo of the color and some reviews to go on I took a chance and it really was worth it! Normally, I buy Burt’s Bees colored lip balm, but this lip color lasts longer. It doesn’t have the nice minty taste- In fact, it has no discernible taste at all, which I find unusual. No fragrance like Chanel products. No taste like Burt’s Bees etc. Just moisturizing color that stays in place, especially if you use Lip liner because you’re getting a little bit older or you just appreciate a very neat lip outline! 👄 Thanks for taking the time to read this review and I hope it helps! I love how this lip balm/ lipstick/lipgloss just glides on without any fuss! The color is a bright mid-pink that everything other than serious lipstick seems to turn on me :-/ I live in a dry climate and sometimes mouth-breath when allergies are bad. It’s a good everyday color and texture for me. The only problem is a strange smell. It could be an ingredient, or some strange person thought I wanted fragrance on my lips. Either way, it irritates my nasal passages a bit. I’ll use this lip crayon, but I’ll think twice before buying another color. If there were a way to eliminate the smell, Julep would be my very favorite everyday lip balm! FINAL UPDATE: Smell fades over time, and doesn’t bother me days when my other allergies are under control. I did order another color for myself and one for a friend. UPDATE! So here’s the deal. There is a page and a half of chemical ingredients in each lip balm (I’m not saying it’s toxic). I guess the vanillin is to make it smell/taste like vanilla instead of like all the chemicals, but it doesn’t work for me. No added fragrance, so I must be somewhat sensitive to one of the ingredients. Absolutely no skin irritation, just a strange smell. Good news is that one of the ingredients is titanium dioxide, so there is some sun protection. I would like to know what SPF.

I really wanted to love this lip balm because I’m already a fan of the brand, and the Brown Sugar shade is truly pretty — the pigment is nice, it goes on smoothly, and it has that subtle shimmer that makes your lips look a little more awake than you feel. The texture is great: soft, moisturizing, and easy to swipe on without thinking. It definitely gives a nice sheen, and I can see why some people feel like it lasts awhile. But for me? It was just okay. Not bad, not amazing — just fine. Some days the color stayed put, other days it vanished faster than my patience when someone says “quick meeting.” For the price, I guess I just expected a little more staying power or hydration magic. There are other tinted balms out there that do more for the same (or less) cost. I don’t regret trying it, and it is pretty… but I probably wouldn’t buy it again.

For years I'd worn long-last lipstick because I used to work 8-12 hour shifts, 5-6 days/week. My priority was rich, fully pigmented color that would last all day without reapplication and that would not smear or smudge. The only problem with long-last lipstick is that it's very drying, so I'd sometimes have to deal with chapped lips. Now that I'm retired, my priority is moisture and comfort. No more need for the long-last lipstick. I've used Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. That's a great product but, because my natural skin color is tan, I found the tint too light for me. It just didn't show up on my lips. Enter Julep It's Balm. I was surprised at how deep the color was--it looked like lipstick! But you can apply this without a mirror. I swipe my bottom lip, then the middle of my top lip, and press my lips together, and my lips are comfortably smooth. It's Balm provides good moisture with a welcome, natural-looking pop of color on my lips. Yes, it comes off with eating and drinking, but it's easy to reapply. It's non-sticky. It's scent- and flavor-free, which I love. I have one on my nighstand and one in my handbag. It fits easily into a pocket. I've never before seen a lip balm that provided definitive but natural-looking lip color. BTW, I ordered Cherry Wood Creme and Black Cherry. Cherry Wood Creme is a deep, subtle red. Black Cherry is a heavily pigmented blue-red that also stains your lips. When I want just moisture, not another application of color, I swipe my lips with the top of the balm--the vitamin E core. A little color goes a long way, so I can see where these lip balms would last a while. I think I'm rambling now, but I love this product. It's a little pricey (yes, I'm a cheapskate), so I signed up for subscribe and save for these two colors. Great product. I can't recommend highly enough.

I have fair red undertone complexion with freckles. My hair color is comparable to a copper penny. This color looks great on me and I wear it more often than the more pink/red color I have. I like this makeup company. Their products are easy to use and goes on smoothly. If I apply this color to bare lips, the color pigment kind of stays on my lips for a a while after it dries out, which is great. I will buy again when needed.

Black cherry is quite dark and bold. I like it. You don’t need much to get a darker look that’s more of a balm than a typical lipstick. If you’re looking for a bold colored balm I’d say go for it! The formula is creamy and feels nice. Doesn’t last as long as typical lipsticks but most that are labeled as moisturizing or as a balm typically don’t last a long time so that was expected. It doesn’t wear down in a patchy or strange way or settle in lip lines. I like to apply it with one of those soft silicone lipstick/balm applicators. It seems to go on smoother and better than straight from the tube/stick. I just rub the silicone applicator over the balm and apply that way (repeating until I get the desired color and feel). If you use too much it will smear. Less is more in this case, I think.

I’m really loving the Julep It's Balm Tint of Color Lip Balm! It's the perfect mix of hydration and color.
