Far superior to previous stat.
Purchased to replace an existing thermostat. So superior to Blyiss thermostat I had before. App for the phone to control also a massive positive and so easy to navigate and use. No more pressing buttons hundreds of times to get what I want. It’s defo worth the 5 stars. Only negative is it wasn’t compatible with current floor sensor so currently controlling on air temp until I get round to replacing the current floor sensor with new sensor supplied with thermostat.

Pleasantly surprised
I went for this despite poor reviews as I had an old warmup system and just wanted to change the thermostat not whole thing (some conflicting advice over whether other brands of thermostat would be compatible) I was pleasantly surprised! It is not that fiddly to use and seems to work well in adjusting temperature at set times. There is now an app so you can boost or then off from your phone, and use geo location. Looks smart too

A fair start but definitely needs software and UX improvements.
This is the only internet connected "smart" thermostat I could find that works with underfloor heating - so marks for that as I've searched high and low. The physical device looks good and goes nicely in my flat. The touch screen is the sort you had to deal with 10+ years ago before multi touch came out - a bir frustratinf but let's be honest... it's a thermostat. The software is what lets the product down... the user experience is pretty poor. It isn't very intuative. There seem to be zillions of sub menus that let you change very basic settings but nothing that you might expect from a "smart" device. There are also a number of settings that are a mystery - would be good to have more help and guidance in the accompanying app to help this. The one thing that boggles is why you can only set standard 7 day timers like any non-smart device. Surely more options should be made possible. Otherwise this is just a thermostat that connects to a phone for no real reason other than to make it sound smart. To be fair - I had seen several reviews saying pretty similar things so I wasn't surprised. My verdict - 3 stars as it does work, but needs a number of software improvements (which will hopefully come) before it deserves more. If you don't need a high-current thermostat then have a look at Nest, Tado and Hive.

Easy to use! No chance!
Yes the app is available. Does not make it any easier to use though. Easy to use, No Hope. Is it on is it off? Poke and hope instructions. I have worked in IT all my life, this must be the poorest of the poor instruction wise. Even Chinese translations are better than this. You just don't know what is going on at any moment. Most central heating system thermostats show what is happening at any given time, not this.

Doesn't live up to the promise
In the spirit of full disclosure I should say that I wanted to purchase a Nest but as they are low-voltage systems only and don't work with electronic underfloor heating, I was forced to look elsewhere. The Warmup 4iE was the closest approximation I could find. I wanted a thermostat for our garden studio that I could control remotely via the web or on an app. Since the studio is used infrequently I didn't care about learning modes or comfort pre-sets or any of the other marketing hype. I simply wanted a thermostat that I could turn on and off without having to slog out to the garden in the cold. The 4iE replaced another Warmup thermostat so the installation of the unit was straightforward. Surprisingly, even getting it to connect to wi-fi wasn't as problematic as I thought it would be. Note: you will have to un-hide your SSID and make sure your access point supports 802.11 b/g. If you, like me, control access via MAC address, use the "unit ID" that appears during the set up. Unfortunately there isn't a Warmup app so you have to control the thermostat via their web page. You should be aware that by signing up to their service you are giving them permission to monitor your energy usage and sell that data to anyone they want to. If you want to retain a bit of privacy use a fake address and e-mail. You just need to remember the e-mail address when you log in. The controls on the web page are fairly rudimentary with way too many (seven) useless pre-sets. Scheduling is crude and unreliable. For example, there is no way to simply turn the heater off on any given day. If you want to use the scheduling features you MUST have time each day that the heater is active. Of course you can set the temperature very low but there is no "OFF". Setting a schedule doesn't actually mean that the thermostat will actually enact it. Likewise setting a fixed temperature is hit-and-miss. For the first two days I could set a fixed temperature and it would hold it until I turned the unit off. It then inexplicably stopped being able to do this. I would set the fixed temp and the unit would keep turning itself off. Now the only way I can hold a temperature without laboriously setting up a schedule is to go into "Rooms", select "override" and tell it how many hours I want the temp held. Really boring. The thermostat itself has touch-screen controls; these require firm and accurate pressing. The menu system, while far from elegant, is not too user unfriendly. Commands placed directly into the thermostat itself seem to take better than once passed over the web page. If you feed your energy costs into the unit it will monitor them. This is pretty useful if you want to see how much you are really spending on heating. The unit will let you upload a custom screen background, tell you the outside air temp and weather. It allegedly will also give you traffic details but for me it always shows a green car (meaning uncongested) even when the road I am monitoring is packed. If I had rated the 4iE after the first two days I would have given it 3 stars. A week on and that has dropped down to two because of the unreliability of the web interface in passing commands to the unit. I'm keeping the unit because even a crippled thermostat that I can control, somewhat, from the web is better than treks out in the cold and rain to set/program a manual unit. Pros: * Easy to install (especially if you have an existing Warmup thermostat) * WiFi set-up reasonably simple * Decent touch-screen interface * Remote monitoring of heating and room temperature * Energy consumption and cost graphs Cons: * Poor web interface * No mobile app * No ability to schedule complete days when the thermostat is completely off * Unreliable application of schedules: sometimes they work, sometimes they don't * Cumbersome schedule set-up * "Fixed Temperature" mode stopped working after two-days
