I expect so. I have an EA84 series and it uses the filters

No, absolutely not! You need it to filter any particulate. Suggest you run a 2nd cleaning cycle w/o cleaning tablets so you get a full flush. Works well for me. Added thought, use the least oily, driest beans you can find to avoid needing to have the grinder mechanism cleaned.

How does this filter install and how often you have to get a new one?

It installs in the water tank and is very simple to do. I make quite a bit of coffee and replace the filter about every 3 or 4 months.
