This American Crew Hair Fiber is a total winner. We bought this travel size tube to try it out, and my 14-year-old son absolutely loves it—it's become his daily go-to. I have been using the American Crew fiber now for 15 years or so and nothing beats it. It's not the cheapest product of this type, so I have tried other cheaper fiber alternatives and none of them have worked as well. My hair is wavy, so I need the extra hold to keep things looking sharp and this stuff never lets me down. It is very thick, so I put a dap on my hand and rub my hands together to generate friction and heat to get a little thinner before I apply and that method has always worked well for me.

If you want added volume, strong hold, and a natural finish, this is a great option—just be aware you’re paying a bit of a premium.

The title says "like gel" but this is nothing like gel. It's a thick paste that you have to dig out with your finger. I added a few drops of water to dilute it and better apply to hair. It does ok holding hair, but it's too thick of a paste. Follow up: once I started using it, the paste comes out much nicer and I thought initially. It's actually a very good product and I'm very pleased with it

I've used American Crew Fiber for a long, long time. I've also used their other products like clay, pomade, styling cream, etc and this product has the best balance between hold and pliability without flaking. It is not totally matte like clay, but it's not shiny like pomade or gel. For years, I was using way too much product - a little goes a long way - until my hair stylist stopped me and said too much product is a waste of money, not to mention it messes up your style! And once you're done styling your hair, it's "dry" and ready to go. So yeah, 3 ounces is good and lasts me months now. It has a light and clean fragrance that many of my dates have described as pleasant. In a moment of weakness (cheapness) I bought a dupe of this product from another major retailer. The cans look the same, the color is the same, but the scent of the cheaper one smells cheap, the consistency is waxy (in a not good way) and Fiber blends and goes in easy while the others can get clumpy and be hard to wash out. I've attached a picture, Fiber is on the right, it's subtle but you can see that it's easier to blend so it's invisible once it's in your hair, unlike the other product which can flake and is harder to wash out. Accept no imitations, get the one that works the best every time!
