How accurate is it as I've had a thermostat before which gives me different reading to another?

I have tested it against the thermostat that controls the central heating, also against the humidity readout on my dehumidifier. It agrees with both to the nearest integer. However, it does take time to respond to a change in environment, so you have to be patient. I recommend leaving it next to the other device you're calibrating it against for an hour or so, especially if you have moved it from a location where the temperature/humidity is significantly different. So, if you need a device that gives instantaneous readouts (and will therefore be changing all the time) then this won't be what you're looking for. If you want something that gives stable readings because you want to monitor over the long term, it will do the job.

Can I use Therm pro in the van for the dogs

Yes you can safely use this in a van for dogs. The people saying don't leave dogs alone in cars are missing the point. If you are in the front and transporting dogs for there welfare it is a good idea to monitor temperature.

Can you use this in lizard tank

I can't see why not it is a dry environment
