Seiko QXR130B Radio Controlled Wooden Mantel Clock, Dark Brown, 23.5 x 17.5 x 8.9cm

I have had Seiko watches and clocks for 50 years and they are always a good quality item. This mantel clock looks great, with its traditional style wooden case, and keeps very accurate time so far, although I've only had it a week. It should do, receiving the NPL/MSF atomic clock radio signal, accurate to 1 second in 300 million years!! A nice big clear face readable from a distance. Setup only took 10 minutes. I put it near an upstairs window. The hands whir round for a bit, then stop at the correct time and it starts from there. I then put it on the downstairs living room mantle, where it runs happily. I cannot hear any ticking sound myself. If you want a good accurate mantle clock then look no further.

Though slightly smaller than our previous clock it actually suits our matle shelf better. It has a clear face easy to read at distance. It was very good value for money and its easy to adjust. It keeps excellent time because its set from the National atomic clock by radio.

This is my second Seiko Radio control clock. The first was the Seiko Alarm Clock, a present from my son. The Mantle Seiko Radio Radio Control Clock looks very good on the Mantle. Thank you Chester Clocks. All good blessings for Christmas

I have had a Seiko quartz wall clock with an oak frame hanging on a living room wall for over 10 years during which time it has been reliable and easy on the eye. On the other hand it has a loud tick and is quite fiddly to re-set for GMT and BST. When I started looking for a small mantel clock I thought this Seiko MSF clock would be just the ticket – an attractive oak case containing a reliable, silent (according to the reviews) Seiko movement that self-corrects for seasonal changes. In fact the second hand moves in 1 second increments and I can hear it ticking from 8 feet away. This is acceptable in a living room or study, but I would not want it in my bedroom, where I prefer a genuinely near-silent clock with continuous movement that does not tick. Seiko make such clocks (e.g. their Seifert clock, one of which I have owned for over 3 years) but this is not of that type. I was misled by reviews that say that this clock is silent - it is not. Another obvious improvement that could be made – this clock has a relatively huge internal volume, and could easily accommodate a larger battery – a C-cell or even a D-cell. I have a quartz carriage clock, given to my father in the 1980’s, that uses a C-cell, the last one of which was replaced after over 8 years – and that clock is considerably smaller than the Seiko QXR130B. I also have a Seiko radio controlled alarm clock, which is battery hungry compared to a standard quartz clock, to the extent that I use lithium batteries in it to keep it going for longer, so a larger battery is an obvious upgrade for an MSF mantel clock. One final point – I find an Arabic clock face clearer to read from a distance than a Roman one – I would have chosen that style if available. The Seiko now resides on a bookshelf where it does look rather bulky – a 1-2 cm reduction in height and width would leave it more in line with its carriage clock styling, while still accommodating a sensibly sized battery. I am not sorry that I bought this clock, but I do believe that Seiko has the know-how and experience to produce something much better, and I am disappointed that they have not done so

This beautiful clock arrived today, I am delighted with it. It looks class well made and great quality. The clock sets it's time by radio control once battery is inserted. Grrat thing about this is the time will always be accurate. The oak finish on the case fits nicely with my oak furniture. Overall a really nice classy time piece.

Good looking clock just right size bought to replace eight day clock this much better it keeps Good time and is silent I would say it is good value I'm pleased with the purchase.

This is the second one of these purchased (bought for another room) very happy with the first one hence the second purchase. The clock face is clear and easy to read and tbh I don’t have anything negative to say. It does what it should and looks good.
