I paid 50 bucks for this 5 dollar item. The mesh works really well, no disappointment there, but the handle is short. like a kids badminton racket. I am only cleaning a 5 foot tank, but it doesnt reach the bottom on the far side.

It’s a good design

This pool hand skimmer has been a game changer, especially with the cottonwoods starting here in Michigan. We are new pool owners, and while the previous owner left us some tools, most of them needed to be replaced. This ended up being a much better find than anything that was left with the pool. What I like: • Works really well for cottonwood and other floating debris • The bag style holds more, so I do not have to empty it constantly • Made well and feels sturdy • Handle is a good length for skimming while I am in the pool • Much more useful than the older tools we had • Helps make quick pool cleanup easier • Good tool to have on hand during messy seasonal debris Things to be aware of: • I usually wait to empty it until I am done skimming • Debris can cling to the bag, especially when wet • I shake it and tap it against something firm, like the fence, to release debris • After it dries, another good shake usually gets most of the rest off • If you want something that empties perfectly clean every time, the bag style may take a little extra effort Overall: This has been one of the more useful pool tools we bought. It works especially well for cottonwood and fine debris, and I like that I can skim longer without constantly stopping to empty it.

Very easy and handy to scoop up the bugs lying on the surface of the pool. Saves me from having to take the leaf skimmer off of the big pole.
