Great for item for tempering a salt block in oven before using on grill. Have used on a Grill to check heat and meat temperature. Easy and fast to use. Easy to store.

This thing is a bit fiicky. Pressingthe power button will give you an initial reading that may not be representative of what you're pointing at, but after a few tires, you will get a believable number from it. I bought this to replace a RYOBI multi-function device that no longer works properly and is no longer made. For the price, I believe this ThermoPro TP410 was a good purchase.

We use this to test surface temps in florida before having our service dog walk with us. Gives accurate temps so we can decide if we need to put on his booties for protection.

Update: Company saw my review and contacted me immediately. Tried to troubleshoot and then sent me a new thermometer. Changed my review to 5 * as I appreciate great customer service. New thermometer working flawlessly. Thank you very much for standing behind your product. Original review: Worked well until it stopped working only slightly a month after ordering. Right outside the return window. Trash quality control.

I wanted this IR thermometer for pan and pot temperatures and for grilling temperatures. Actually, I just wanted the tool, but the former is my story and I'm sticking to it as far as my wife is concerned. Easy to use, easy to setup, a little hard on batteries. The ones supplied with the unit are exhausted after minimal use. I'll have to assess with a better quality battery. It's really hard to know about accuracy in real world use. Using containers with boiling water and ice cold water it seems within a degree centigrade. You have to remember that the range from the device that the sensor reads is far closer than the laser will point. Have reasonable expectations of this device and it should serve your needs. Setting the emissivity is easy but don't forget to set then press the mode or it won't change from the default. I have yet to find a good emissivity table that is specific to cooking though. Sometimes I'm uncertain what to set it at. FU 4/24 - this device has continued to be of value in not overheating pans on the cook top. One continuing gripe is that the battery indicator ALWSYS says the battery is nearly exhausted. Even with a fresh battery it never reads full. Something so simple to engineer should work. So retracting a star.

This thermometer measures both with infrared light and inserting the probe in the food for internal temperature at a reasonable price.

Bought this for all subsequent cruises - had an issue with a cruise cabin that could not be cool appropriately -- this allows me to show what the real temp is.
