I've been decanting oil (olive, grapeseed, etc.) from the store container to a dispenser for around 10 years now, gone through several quite different designs, and this is what I would rate as "best of breed," at least for my purposes. Here's what I like: * LEAKPROOF. I've been bitterly disappointed with several designs that advertise themselves as leakproof, but in fact leak from one or more problem areas (e.g., from around the screw-on lid). * The cantilevered faucet closer (term?) is pure genius. We all know we should limit oxygen exposure to our cooking oils (as well as help prevent leaks, or at least a catastrophic gush, from an accidental tip over), and this simple, elegantly analog design works really well. I almost find myself reaching for this dispenser just to see the cantilever in action. * Just the right size. Fits in hand easily, not so little that I have to refill more than once every 1-2 weeks, not so much that it's ungainly and doesn't slide into my cupboard easily. * Overall build quality close to rugged. The rubber bottom helps give confidence that this can take normal wear and tear in a busy kitchen, really be used, and not just sit pretty on a shelf, a fragile but impractical little thing. The only "minus" is that sometimes the cantilever seems to get a little sticky with oil. A quick rinse in some soapy water solves this completely, but if I were designing this from scratch, I'd build it with a little beefier metal and a heavier counterweight. But this is a slight issue, and like I said, a quick soapy rinse solves the problem. Please, if you've made it this far, you should give this dispenser very serious consideration.

I'm not sure how or why some other reviewers have a hard time with this product. The weighted "cap" can be removed and put back on by putting the knobs into the grooves, very simple. The lid will always leak if you use it improperly, obviously you don't pour it with the intake hole getting covered with whatever fluid you have inside of it.. the point of that hole is to allow air inside so the liquid easily pours out the spout. I have no idea how or why some other reviewers have gotten a "cap" that doesn't fit properly, either its not seated in the grooves properly or the spout needs to be pushed out slightly to allow it to close all the way.. Looks to me like some people have zero common sense.... Mine is perfect and just like the picture shows. Does everything its supposed to and is thick glass, feels like good quality. I only put it in the dishwasher once when I received it to obviously "clean" it properly. Nothing bad happened to it so i guess its good with dishwashing if you need to wash it frequently?

love it! looks great on the counter. very practical.
