Perfect for beginners or pro’s
Thank you thank you thank you SHARPAL, i’ve used Whetstones, Rollers, Lansky systems and none of them worked anywhere near as good as this diamond block. Very easy to use a there’s no water and in turn no mess!!! I went for the bigger size as it gave me more room for the knife, the quality is top tier and the magnetic angle guide is really helpful for beginners. I was pleasantly surprised by the price too because the Lansky system was nearly double what i paid for this. All in all a perfect sharpener for a beginner or seasoned pro. I also recommend the double sided leather strop, really finishes the blade off.

Works pretty well. Only recommend this for larger knives.
Works pretty well. Only recommend this for larger knives. This thing is useless if you have anything of similar depth as a butter knife. You cannot easily secure it to the knife without touching the stone or falling off, as the magnets don't properly grip. Only made for Larger knives, but that's what most people would use. It's good at teaching you how to maintain a constant angle. You cannot 100% trust the angle measurements, but you can trust that once you set it to an angle, you follow the bubble and keep it centred. You can ensure you have kept a consistent angle throughout the process. I highly recommend this over guides between your knife and stone, i.e., ones that get worn down over time. Those guides are useless and don't teach you the proper knife-sharpening techniques. At least this device should last longer, and since it's free-floating with the magnet, it's versatile. My only grip is that it's annoying to have to unpeel it from my knife when I have to turn it over to the other side. I wish they made a double-sided one where you set it to 1 setting on both sides. It clicks onto the spine of the knife. That way, you can quickly swap to the other side, align the bubble, and sharpen it quickly. If they make one double-sided i will be sure to buy it

Good tool for getting consistent results
The Sharpal angle guide is easy to use and helps maintain a consistent sharpening angle, even for beginners. It sits securely on the blade and provides reliable guidance, making sharpening faster and more accurate. A handy, no-nonsense tool for getting consistent results. Not the most ideal for small knives.

Good idea but didn't work well
The idea behind this product is great to help aid your sharpening ability at a good cost. The product was well made and fitted to my larger knives well, though, didn't work very well with smaller knives. Additionally, the angle would slip regularly as it was not lockable, so did not work as well as it could.

good quality, great ease of use and value for money
this is a really great piece of kit for anyone getting started or with experience. it helps keep angles sharp and precise with minimal effort. a must have for proffessionals and learners alike. its compact, easy to use, and will help you re-edge almost anything that uses a wetstone. will even work with metal objects being grinded or sanded with grinders or belt sanders but do that at your own risk as the items originally purpose is for wetstones, not beveling. this item is compact and folds, perfect for any campers or survivalists. definitely a must have for preppers and outdoorsman. may pick some more of these up for family at some point. the simplicity alone makes this a valuable ally for when sharpening or re-edging anything metal

Didn't think it was value for money
I didn't think it was a value for money product. I'd put it at less than half the price. It's a very light piece of plastic with poor quality print.

Useful for checking you are maintaining the correct angle
If you’re looking for something that you can use during the sharpening process to hold the blade at the correct angle, this isn’t it. While it will sit comfortably on a wide blade, inertia will cause the bubble to fly backwards and forwards during the strokes and render it useless for that purpose. However the goal in learning to sharpen accurately and obtain a uniform burr quickly is keeping a consistent angle. A professional sharpener will tell you it’s about muscle memory, and in time you will just know what 15° or 20° feels like. This little gizmo is excellent for checking whether you have the correct angle mid-stroke. I use it at the start of the pass to see if I have set the correct angle by memory (usually I haven’t, but I’m getting better) and then during the pass I sometimes stop and hold the angle, and with my other hand drop the guide onto the blade to see if I’m maintaining the angle I started with. I’m getting better and this thing is helping. I recommend it.

Fragile may have other uses though.
I think this kind of guide is far more simple to use. Which is made by the same company. It is difficult to hold an angle and gain any rhythm as the bubble gets rattled around while drawing blade back and forth on the wetstone. Mine was fragile can't say that applies to all of them I sent it back as it broke after 4/5 uses. That said I am sure there are other uses for this device which suit it better, maybye on fixed angle sharpeners.

A "MUST HAVE" for beginner knife sharpeners
I was always slightly intimidated about whetstone sharpening and the risk of messing up the angles on my expensive knives. This angle guide was a perfect investment - it helped me ensure my hands were holding the knives at the right angles and was effortless to use. After doing a handful of knives I found my hands almost naturally trained on that angle and feel so it might not be something I need to use long term since all of my good knives are the same angle.
