Short Review
I'll keep this short as there are loads of other reviews of the Sony A7RV (5). To put this bluntly: The camera is brilliant - the image quality is really amazing with so much more detail that you will need with the 61MP sensor output, if you like cropping in or pixel peeping then you definitely will not be disappointed. The autofocus is again, amazing! Depending on how you've se the camera up, the autofocus will hold onto your subject whenever they are in the frame and the reaction is quick and accurate, absolutely brilliant system and heads-and-shoulders above other manufacturers systems that I've used. Battery life is good, it'll almost certainly last for most of the day for general photography and videography. The only negative is that if you use the screen a lot for viewing your frame or adjusting the camera settings etc, then this does eat into the battery life - but I would certainly not say that the battery life is bad, if anything it is still a lot better than other manufacturers offerings. The image colour profile is good and natural, it will be enhanced within software such as Photoshop (alternatives are available) - but out of the camera images are realistic and true to real life. Videos are also very clean, for me I've had no problems with the 'wobble effect' that some others find in fast moving pans and movement. This is likely down to the type of subjects that I capture that tend to move more slowly through the frame (mostly heavy machinery and natural subjects). The file size at 61MP can be quite large, with an average of 125MB per image. If you use the sensor shift function then this can increase massively to produce the 240MP image - but to be honest, you don't really need to produce an image with this amount of data. Lastly, the dreaded Sony menu system.... yes, it is an improvement but still not to the standards of Nikon's attempt. Admittedly Sony has made massive improvements in their implementation of the menu structure within the A7R5, but it is still quite complicated and slightly 'information overload' to find a setting that you want to adjust. Fortunately Sony have given an option to build a User Menu that can be customised to hold all the regularly used functions that you need from project to project, and the addition of a graphical interface when assigning functions to buttons is a very welcome improvement over the old system. Right, I said that I would keep this review short! So, if you want the best consumer grade camera that can capture the highest detail in an image then the Sony A7RV (5) [A7R five} is for you. The images are crisp and full of good quality image date that you can use either straight from the camera, or process in software to crop to your heart is content - the detail is better than the naked eye. Yes, it is not that cheap - but you are definitely getting an amazingly good piece of well developed hardware for your money. You want the best camera, get this! (and a good lens!) Totally happy with my purchase, would absolutely purchase another without any hesitation.

Check that the camera is from Sony and not a grey import from a third party seller.
I purchased this camera via Amazon prime in February 2025 and it arrived the next day. 11 months later it kept coming up with an error message to turn the camera off and on again whilst taking photos. I messaged Amazon who provided a link for me to contact Sony for an in warranty repair. Unfortunately the Sony website kept saying the serial number was incorrect so I called them and they kept telling me I must be wrong. After providing Sony with a photo of the serial number on the camera they told me that the serial number is not recognised by Sony as the camera is a grey import and is therefore not eligible to be repaired under a Sony Warranty. I contacted Amazon again and explained what Sony had told me and they offered to send a replacement. However, I did not want to risk receiving another grey import so Amazon have arranged a return so a refund can be processed. I am now without a camera while I get this sorted but probably lucky that this happened within the 12 month period. (Sony A7RV serial numbers according to Sony should be 6 numbers only and my camera was alphanumerical and contained 2 letters followed by 5 numbers.)

Used Camera received
Please don't buy this product, as the seal was not there at all in the box and it was open. The image shoes it all. I was happy and excited in opening the product and suddenly noticed this and was really upset. The product was dusty inside when opened,so it is a used product. I don't think Sony does like this. Please people buy these products from all there savings. Stop doing this. Thank you.
