After moving away from caffeine I've been looking for alternatives for my afternoon tea, I landed squarely on chamomile. I've tried several different brands from amazon now that are available in larger quantities, and of those I've tried none have had a patch on Mimea's flowers for my tastes.A clean, crisp, and warm scent and flavour. Stronger than many of the others.

Yum ... and wow!My first thought was "1 kg of chamomile is a lot!" My second thought was how delicious the flowers smelt! This batch is delicious. It smells sweet and tastes sweet too, and I will never be returning to store-bought tea bags ever again.I've been enjoying this product for a couple of weeks, and my main recommendation:* Two-three teaspoons is plenty for one cup (note I am using a strainer inside the teapot you see in the video. Last night we made two cups, filtering through the same strainer of flowers and the taste was still lovely. We might keep testing that theory to see how many times you can use the strainer for flowers before the flavour weeks; stay tuned for an update.* Think about how you are going to store it to keep it fresh and dry. I have a 2L glass jar jammed full, and the bag still seems full like I haven't removed anything. I have decided to purchase some mylar bags to store them longer term, as it might take us longer than expected to get through this batch.

I was lucky enough to be able to try this in return for an independent review. I drink regular supermarket camomile tea bags every night. I think they help settle me for bed. But I know they are not premium quality. I have only once had premium camomile tea and that was something I have not forgotten. It was so far superior to the pulverised stuff we get in the supermarket but use because that’s what we see available and they are affordable.I was gobsmacked when these flowers arrived. I knew that 1kg would be a decent sized bag but this is the size of an actual cushion! 14 inches each side. On opening, I was immediately hit by the scent of summer. It’s such a genuinely sweet floral and hay-like scent. It will take you back to hot, dry summers.There’s a real mix of flowers sizes ranging from 0.8mm to 0.5mm and 0.2mm. There are fine grassy-like bits in between so it’s not purely flowers. I imagine those would be far more expensive.I like to steep 2 teaspoons in my glass teapot so I can see the infusion. It really doesn't need long as the flowers are more potent than the supermarket tea bags. It makes a warm and soothing, floral 'tea.' And it goes a long way. You can keep adding boiling water to it to make it go further.You only need 1 teaspoon in a tea ball. 1 teaspoon weighs less than a gramme. So for a 1000g bag you will get 1250 cups of infusion! If you have one per day, this bag will give you almost 3.5 years of 'tea'! The best before date on this lovely big bag is December 2027 so that works out perfectly. Ironically, this works out far cheaper than the inferior supermarket tea bags,Having done a cursory look online at the prices of premium camomile, prices range from £17 for what looks like a similar mix of flowers to between £40 and £70 for a kilo of mainly large flowers and no leaves. Having tasted this beautiful mix, it is my opinion that this is priced fairly at £27.84 at the time of writing.I am pleasantly surprised you can buy a camomile infusion of this quality for this price and feel I have missed out by assuming this was unaffordable. I do think this should be available to buy in smaller quantities as many people may not want this much and this will also maintain freshness. I will be portioning it down to 4 or 5 smaller bags which I will vacuum seal to keep them fresh.

I have a cup of Chamomile tea every night before I go to bed and for years I have used the bags of a well known brand. These were always nice enough but since ordering these I will never go back to shop brought bags.I use my cup with infuser and use one teaspoon to make a cup each night and the flavour is beautiful. In fact, I only used to drink Chamomile tea as I found it relaxing before bed but I now drink this for its beautiful taste too. It's very palatable and knowing it has such a great deal of health benefits is the icing on the cake.Chamomile is a digestive relaxant and has anti-inflammatory qualities which is ideal before going to bed, especially if you have eaten a big meal a few hours before.The bag is large enough at 1kg that it will last me for quite some time. I am going to give my mum half of it as she enjoys a cup too! I've had to decant it into smaller tubs which are airtight.It has a use by date of December 2027 so will last me ages meaning I don't have to spend money on that famous brand (which are expensive)I've heard you can use Chamomile for cooking so I will start investigating this too. I am so happy I ordered this item as it has so many health benefits and is introducing me to more.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the taste of this chamomile when brewed into a tea is absolutely exquisite. It's pure and delicious, nothing like the herbal teas that you buy from the supermarket in a packet. There is simply no comparison. No honey needed to make it palatable as it's already sweet. There's no strong or bitter after taste at all. The flavour is subtle and delightful and quite unlike any other I've ever tasted before. Just one teaspoon per cup is all that's needed. I have a little glass teapot with an infuser inside and drop two teaspoons in for two cups. After a few minutes to brew it's ready to drink. Delicious.A one kilo bag is huge. The use by date is two years away, so I doubt I'll need to buy more for quite some time. Chamomile has so many other uses other than tea which I may explore in future as the bag is so generous. For now, I'm enjoying a lovely brew and of course, always best from a vintage china teacup.The gorgeous aroma that permeated the kitchen when I opened the bag was something else. These little dried flowers look and smell very fresh that I could almost have eaten them from the bag with a spoon! Just yummy! Fresh chamomile, it's been quite a revelation. I won't be buying another herbal tea bag ever again. One final little bonus for me is that the spent flowers from the infuser can go straight onto the compost heap. Nothing is wasted.
