Furacin ointment for horses
This is a good product for treating all sorts of dermal cuts and scrapes on horses. In the past it was commonly used on surgical incisions either under bandages or open to the air in both a veterinary and human medical environment. Another use is for treatment of thrush. The thrush bacteria is very susceptible to most antiseptics and antibiotics and furacin works very well on both "scratches", rain rot (dermatophilosis) and hoof thrush. It is reasonably priced, too.

Great stuff. Discontinued.
Great product. Works amazing on horse wounds. To bad it's discontinued by the manufacturer. Cali ruins it for everyone.

Great for Abcsesses!
This stuff is amazing to wrap a hoof with an emerging abscess. Apply generously, then use an infant diaper, vet wrap and duct tape. Leave on for 48 hours. (May require a couple times). Has worked every time for me.

I Still Use Nitrofurazone for Bad Wounds
I have used Nitrofurazone many, many years and love the product. It is great for preventing and healing infections. I worked for vets in the past, and it was the go-to antibiotic for deep wounds at that time. Now it is rarely used because it is supposed to be a carcinogen. I believe it would take gallons of it to cause cancer. I personally still use it!
