Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods: (A BRAND NEW PERCY JACKSON ADVENTURE) : Riordan, Rick: desertcart.in: Books Review: "Look, I didn't want to be a high-school senior." - Idk what to say like i have no words except "wow". This book was, well, a little less fantasy than usual, but I liked the real life twists. The whole book was light and funny, and the pacing was mwah perfection. I aspire to write like this one day. 10/10 book would definitely reread. The chapter headings are hilarious as usual. Read all the percy jackson main series and maybe the heroes of olympus before this so you can take the context and stuff. Do not hesitate to buy. Finished in one day. Very interesting. It's larger (in size, not pages) than the main series so it looks kinda bad when stacked but thats ok. Page count is 268. It also contains a SPECIAL "the sun and the star" extract, which is a sidestory from Nico's POV. I love this book! Hope this helped :) Review: Lovely book - BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!! It was very exciting to go back to the phool world 💕

The strength of the book is the farcical humor with intellectual elements
Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Chalice of the Gods by Rick Riordan Genre: Fantasy/Adventure/Humor Audience: 12+ Rating: 4 stars out of 5 Review This book starts a new Percy Jackson series, one in which he needs to obtain 3 letters of recommendation from the Greek Immortals to get into the same college as his smart girlfriend Annabeth. The story is about the main quest and sub quests that prove necessary to get the first letter of recommendation, from Ganymede, the cupbearer of Zeus on Mount Olympus. The story is itself rather ordinary as fantasy goes. What makes the book appealing to young readers as well as grown ups is the farcical humor, combined with intellectual elements, evident in abundance in the text. Grown up readers may not take kindly to the non-literary adolescent language and narrative, but this style of writing will help draw younger readers to the book, which is not a bad thing. Grown up readers will enjoy the book if it is read as a farce. The book can be read as a standalone novel, though the reader would certainly benefit from having read at least the first book in the original 5-title series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

A cozy old style Percy Jackson with more depth
I bought the book when it was released and I waited to read it after re-reading Heroes of Olympus cause it comes in between the timeline of Heroes of Olympus and Trials of Apollo. The Chalice of The Gods is a callback to what Rick does best and that is a single POV. The chapter titles are back and I was missing them so much. The sassy Percy is back cause in Heroes of Olympus he was angry, or filled with anxiety or regret. It’s the old Percy from Percy Jackson OG five-book series but with the added flavor of growth. Percy’s perception of what being an 8-year-old and what old age has in store for Percy, Annabeth, and Grover is an eye-opener. We also got a lot of Sally Jackson, and I’m loving it. Everyone has grown a lot even Poseidon even if doesn’t show it most of the time. Now that Percy is a senior high schooler, he is old enough to not need the camp so he is living the normal life, as normal as he, being the forbidden child, can live. And the quest this time only happened after school hours, it was a different experience for our heroes and brave Satyr. But, still, Percy has to finish the quest to get the gods' recommendation letter to apply for New Rome College. Percy has a big heart and he can be as soft as he wants to be. This book told us all the aspects of Percy that we already knew from the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series and Heroes of Olympus series and enhanced on it.
