Do the 2" steel inserts have hooks to prevent then from falling out?

I'm not exactly sure of your question. If your talking about the center of the plate, they almost look like a rivet. They are flared on both sides. I don't see them coming out at all. They are very well made.

Some reviews indicate that these come coated in an oil-like compound that is difficult to remove. What is the suggested method to remove the oil?
