Excellent for mounting mics on most hoops
If you have never owned or used this particular mount you will probably be frustrated as soon as you try to attach it. I discovered how by watching a very short Youtube video some kind soul took the time to create, and that did it for me. A few caveats: these will not work with vintage Rogers "tall boy" hoops (or at least I was not able to make it attach), and will also not work with Slingerland style stick-saver hoops (the top flange is turned inward and this mount will not engage it.)The key is to realize that the material from which this is made is a lot stronger than you think. It will not break when you apply the necessary force to seat it, and once you snap this in place a few times it becomes second nature. For the record, I purchased this to mount a small mic on an Odery Cafe kit "bass drum", which is a scant 14 inches in diameter and has triple flanged hoops. That configuration works perfectly. I also tested it out on a Sonar AQ and Tama snare drums and it attached with no problems (after I surmounted the learning curve of how to seat it.)

Works well. Flexible. Will accept many different mics I believe.
Great service. Product is strong yet flexible. Easily mounted to drum hoop and off again. Doesn't seem possible to break it like ither comments I've read. I am using it to hold an Audix F10. Angle is good. Adjustable up and down for goo mic proximity. I think this would work with many different mic lengths. Brass nut is 5/8 standard.Highly recommend.

great mount
i was trying to find a mic mount for my snare that would be sturdy enough to stand up to lots of use but also minimal enough to not interfere with the drumhead. i read a bunch of reviews for other mounts where you tighten them onto the hoop by turning a screw which in turn puts pressure on the drumhead. i was a bit wary of the 'rubber' construction of this mount but so far i am impressed with the build quality. it's made of thick dense rubbery plastic (maybe just hard rubber, i dont know) that easily supports a beta57 with clip, provides a bit of a shock mount for the mic, and grips the hoop like there is no tomorrow all while not interfering with the drumhead. recommended!

It works ok, it DOES touch your drum head rim on some drums
I own 5 of these. I also own the drum mic mounts that came with my ElectroVoice PL35 microphones.I purchased these because of the reviews I read stating that they do not touch the "rim" of your drum head like the clips that came with my PL 35's did. This is not entirely true however. They DO TOUCH the "rim" of the drum head, but that depends on the depth of the hoop itself and how far inside the hoop the rim of your drum head lies.depending on the depth of the drum hoop, if not deep enough, this mount will rest against the drum head rim putting upwards pressure on the drum head... essentially in opposition of the tension used to tune the drum. For example:Pearl World Series drum hoop, this mount only clips onto / makes contact with the drum hoop.Pearl Reference drum hoop, this mount clips onto the drum hoop on top and the bottom of the clip makes contact with and puts upwards pressure on the drum heads metal rim - NOT the drum hoop.So it depends on the "depth" of the drum hoop this mount is used on.If the metal rim of your drum head is FLUSH with, or sticks out farther than the flange of the drum hoop, then this mount WILL touch / butt up against the rim of the head (NOT the drum hoop like it should) and it will put upwards pressure on the metal / aluminum rim of the drumhead (I am referring to the metal "ring" that is part of the drum head which the actual plastic / mylar portion of the drum head is mounted / glued onto).I put this clamp on 4 different drums. A Pearl Reference tom, a Pearl World Series tom, a Tama Artwood snare drum, and a Pulse percussion piccolo snare drum (lol, ya I know, cheap arse drum). The only drum that this clip did not come into contact with the drumhead rim was the Pearl World Series tom. All others IT DID touch the rim of the head within the flange of the drum hoop and apply pressure to it.HOWEVER: I did play my Pearl Reference tom without the clip on it, hit it and listened very closely, I then put the clip on it, hit it and listened very closely. There was NO DIFFERENCE in the sond / tone / sustain / or over tones. It does seem that even with this clip touching the rim of the drumhead it does not effect the sound of the drum. This clip is MUCH thinner and flexible than the clips that came with my PL35's, and that might have something to do with it...?This clip is easy to put on and take off. The clips that came with my PL35's are VERY RIGID, THICK, AND DIFFICULT to put on and take off.Id say overall (so far) that these clips probably would work well. Thats is all I can say at this point however because I still need to really "put them to use".If you think that these mic mounts WONT touch the rim of your drum head you are most likely mistaken or misinformed. Again that would depend on how far the rim of your drum head sits within the flange of your drum hoop. This mic mount does put far less pressure on the rim of the drum head than other similar mounts because it is far more pliable/flexible and also thinner in that area. It does seem to be strong enough to with stand repeated use (taking on and off).I will update this review after a few weeks use and with some pictures as well.I hope this review helps you decide.good luck!

Excellent
I'm not sure why people say this is difficult to mount. It mounted easily and securely to my Crush Sublime hoops. The angle of the adjustable arm makes it easier to mount larger microphones that would otherwise intrude into the playing area of smaller drums. Nothing wrong with it at all. I'd definitely recommend it.

Shure A50D microphone drum mount
I have used these mic clips for years with no issues. The clips were flexible and easy to use. Now Shure has changed the formula of the plastic used and the clips are too easy to break and they’re not flexible at all. Such a shame that they made these changes because the original product was perfect.

Quicker setup for live gigs.
I've only used this once but it was much easier to setup than the Shure clamp that came with the drum mic prepack. I bought this because the other clamp had started loosening and falling out of place during gigs. This clamp allowed for reasonable placement between the snare and the bottom of the high hat.

It holds the mic!
While there are certainly sturdier-looking options available, this may be all the mic clip you'll ever need. I can't say how well this would do with a heavier mic, but for my AKG tom mics, these mounts are plenty strong enough to keep them in place, even with some aggressive style drumming. Works great on my Gretsch rims.
