This paint is such goof quality for the money. I love the colors and how opaque they are. It covers pencil underneath well. I recommend these to start over the cheap bottles that are really runny from the store. These are some thick paints so you can water them down a little and still get good coverage. I really like this brand. The picture is swatches of the smallest amount of paint showing you wouldn’t need time is layers. I’m a beginner, so being able to practice with some higher quality paint that is affordable is awesome.

First note: I don't give 5 stars unless unusually spectacular. This set is a great choice for those wanting to get into acrylic painting - and have drawing skills, and basic color mixing knowledge, or painting experience with other types, like oil, gouache, caseine, etc. They have professional pigment levels. The colors (single pigment), and hues (more than one pigment), in the set, are carefully chosen. They make it easy for you to mix all you'll need. Not just secondaries , like orange, green, and purple, but dark earthy (browns and greens, etc), and pastel colors. They are satin plus gloss range. Side track: My opinion on student vs professional vs intermediate grades. I think many student grade lines are actually better for professional use, as an experienced artist will quickly note the limits and use strategically. Many artists use them to fill in, and conserve, expensive professional spec paints. People new to painting - especially acrylics - can easily be frustrated by lighter pigment loads - especially when dealing with yellow. Acrylics are arguably the most versatile paints. They also require more strategic knowledge to fully effectively. These Meeden Artist paints are pro grade. They don't offer a full color line, and aggressively price for tight budgets. Therefore I highly recommend for less experienced artist, and students. You get fully professional paint, in a set, that allows for a full mixing range. You get this at half (to far less than half) the price of professional range paints. Meeden company offers interesting, and well thought out, product lines of acrylics (no this isn't sponsored in any way - I decided to give them a try, and am using them along with other brands). Though clearly aiming at beginners and hobbyists, professionals can absolutely use any of them - depending on methods and preferences. In my case - their matte finish Heavy Body Basics work exceptionally well for me - mixing perfect with other acrylics: Pro grade: Windsor and Newton professional, Blick's artist, Chroma Atelier, Lukas Pastos, etc. Intermediate grade: Grumbacher Academy (exceptional for more blended rendering), Masters Touch, Lukas Studio, etc. Student grade: Liquitex Basics, Meeden Heavy body Basics, and Soft Body, W&N Galeria. Some might argue over some of these classifications. Final thoughts: Due to the price point, this is possibly the best basic starter set out there. If you find you like using acrylics - and move onto more complete professional brand lines - these will remain useful. I suggest two accessories: 1) A decent retarding liquid medium, or additive. I use Golden mediums - glazing mediums, or Golden Open medium work well. The Open medium will allow for a bit more blending time. 2) A good impasto, gel medium. US Art Supplies impasto is excellent. These add ons will allow a beginner to learn how to blend, or do impasto build up. These are medium I use - they work well with various paint brands. Other artists might recommend other mediums brands.

Good color selection, paints mix well.

I bought this product to preview the paint quality for gifting a couple of special holiday gifts for my great niece and nephew. I want to teach them the proper ways to use acrylics and gifting art as a way to cope with growing up. This Meeden set a wonderful set of full bodied paints. I especially liked the med yellow, which is a yellow that is used a lot in blending for your desired effect. I had no problems blending them with mediums from slo-dry to matte or gloss. Very happy with the quality.

These are alright paints. Just be aware that they dry extremely quickly. I tested them on an 8x10 panel and never needed to wait for them to dry, in fact, at times I had to rush and forgo blending to adjust for how fast the paint was drying.

Great texture, viscosity and coverage at half the price of Liquitex heavy bodied acrylics. The colors are very saturated and beautifully mixed.

I always buy "artist" grade or professional level paints. I bought the Meeden "artist" acrylics just to test them and I was pleasantly surprised. I feel they do contain sufficient pigment and are buttery. Acrylics dry fast; that is a fact of acrylics. So use a retarder to keep them soft. You can make your own retarder; see YouTube for more info. Keep your brushes wet at all times and clean them after use. I love to paint with oils but sometimes I just like the ability to clean up with water. I would suggest this 9 tube artist set as a good buy. It contains two yellows, two reds and two blues, plus black and white. If you know your way around the color wheel, this set will be all you need.

Fantastic paint set for the money. No tiny mean tubes, good size, and good variety of colours. I've been using Meeden for a while, although new to painting, I wanted to start with something that had a good consistency and coverage, this brand does exactly that.
