Apple 2022 Apple TV 4K Wi‑Fi + Ethernet with 128GB storage (3rd generation)

Although a little taller than the original Apple TV box it’s still pretty compact, set up is a breeze and the interface runs much more smoothly than the original, a pleasure to use and has become my main device for streaming services, the WiFi connection is also much more stable than the original and the picture quality and sound seems like a step up too. What’s not love love about this. Oh and I should say that while I liked the original remote control for factor the new Apple Remote is faster. Smoother and now controls the power on/off of both my tv and soundbar simultaneously which is a god send, not having to operate 3 different remotes when turning the tv on or off. The remote has a built in battery and charges quickly via USBC and the power seems to last for ages, in one year of constant use I think I’ve charged it twice and it’s still going. You can also operate the unit from your mobile phone and Siri voice button saves a tonne of time because you no longer have to manually scroll to type in what you’re looking for and it works very well.

Whether my family is binge-watching a new series in 4K or streaming live events, it handles everything we throw at it effortlessly.The interface? Ultra-smooth. I know Apple products are kind of famous for their intuitive design, but they’ve really nailed it with this one. Switching between apps is seamless, and, come to think of it, I haven’t had any of those annoying lags that make you want to hurl the remote across the room.Picture quality also earns a resounding applause. The vibrant colors and crisp details are so impressive that I caught myself actually admiring the digital rain in a movie scene the other night. Yeah, I know.Overall, I tend to think this Apple TV is a solid investment for tech enthusiasts and casual users alike. It really elevates the home entertainment experience. Now I just need to figure out how to reclaim the remote from the kids... or maybe that's for another day!

The picture quality is sublime. I really wish I’d got one of these sooner. Exceeded my expectations, but being Apple I perhaps should have known what I was in for. Very simple to set up, works flawlessly. Beautiful, snappy interface. It smashes all other TV streaming devices of which I’ve tried many. Hugely recommended.

I was initially on the fence about getting an Apple TV, since we already have a smart TV and can theoretically access most streaming services through the TV’s OS. I finally decided to buy one after Netflix kept having trouble authenticating on the smart TV – and I don’t regret it one bit. First of all, there are small quality-of-life improvements I didn’t expect: The OS is so much smoother, prettier, and faster to navigate. The Apple TV app ties all your streaming services together and will tell you if a particular movie or series is available for free in one of your installed apps. Honestly, this is one of my favourite features – I no longer have to Google it or check each service manually. I can connect my AirPlay-enabled speakers and group them with the TV speakers (only works while streaming movies or series). It works as a home hub, letting you control your Apple smart home devices when you’re away. There’s a Steam Link app that lets you stream games from your PC over the internet. The experience depends on your home internet quality, but with an ethernet cable connected it’s great – just pair a supported gaming controller and you’re good to go. Overall, the Apple TV is a great little device that upgrades your home entertainment setup in so many unexpected ways. I’m really glad I bought one, and I wouldn’t go back.

I truly believe that this is the best streaming device for any TV. I’ve tried a few, but this is so much more intuitive, working brilliantly with other Apple products too. It’s a synch to set up, especially if you have your iPhone, or iPad near by. Although smart TVs have so many of these apps built in, they load quicker and easier from Apple TV. Picture and sound quality is superb, with little to no lag on the latter. It’ll play anything from your iTunes library, but also photos and video too from iCloud. All in glorious 4K (if your TV supports that). All in all, it’s well worth paying a little extra - over similar products - for something that works so much better. Unlike many Apple products, it’s not vastly overpriced and when compared to similar products, it’s good value for money. The remote is much better than the previous generation, and appears to work well with the TV, as well as the device itself. It only requires charging through a USB-C cable a couple of times a year. All in all, it was a good buy. The only reason why I didn’t give it five stars was because there’s always room for improvement

I spent a long time contemplating purchasing an Apple TV 4K to replace my PS4 Pro for streaming, but I have no regrets taking the plunge. The final factor that sold it to me, that I think is rarely acknowledged or considered, is the energy usage - a PS4 Pro uses around 100W for streaming, whereas an Apple TV 4K uses just over 2W. Everything else the Apple TV 4K offers over the PS4 Pro is just a bonus for me - larger app selection, the Apple TV app that combines your usage of all other TV apps, more responsive / faster interface, better Plex app support for streaming from my Mac, Airplay for streaming from my other Apple devices, quicker start up and shut down times, simpler remote with Siri control with a much better battery life and that can control my TV volume, better and seamless integration with iPhone for control and Airpods for audio, better integration with Bluetooth devices e.g. Bluetooth speakers and headphones. Though it's also worth noting that I was already deep in the Apple ecosystem before this purchase - I already owned an iPhone, Mac, iPad and Airpods Pro, so from that respect this was the obvious first choice for me over other streaming devices (Roku Streaming Stick, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV Stick etc...) purely for integration with the rest of my devices - I have not tried or properly looked into the other options, so I can't comment on how the Apple TV 4K compares to them based the tech you already use. However, if you're already an Apple device user then the Apple TV 4K should be at the top of your consideration list.

I never quite got who Apple TV was aimed at, but after a day of using this I understand now. We have a couple of smart tvs at home so I didn’t think I’d benefit much from using Apple TV, but the difference is night and day. Most modern tvs are very underpowered. Press a button on the Apple TV remote and it turns the tv on and selects the Apple TV hdmi source. The interface is well designed and super responsive. You can install all your normal TV Apps (iplayer, itv, Netflix, plex, etc.) using the apps is the same experience as you’d expect on your iPhone or iPad. Fast and easy to use. The Home Screen keeps track of what you were watching. So you can pick up the last episode you were watching on Disney plus or finish a film on Netflix. You can have multiple profiles on the tv so you can keep your Apple Music and preferences separate. If you have a compatible home doorbell you will get alerts and live Picture in Picture of people at your door. You can also control your home lights. Etc from the quick menu The box also runs some games that run on iOS. Pair it with a PS or Xbox controller and you’ve got a great casual gaming box You can control the Apple TV from your phone if you can’t find the remote, and the phone has a built in find my remote if you lose it down the sofa.

I have bought two Apple units to replace my Sky Streaming pucks. These Apple TV boxes are very easy to set up and use. They work faster and seem to produce a better picture than the Sky pucks. Unlike the Sky pucks these boxes now belong to me. I have taken out the app subscriptions I want, ie Netflix, Now TV, Prime, Paramount +, Apple etc. The monthly cost is around £50 compared to the total cost of my Sky package of £84 plus Apple etc. Like for like I was paying £100 per month compared to the £50 I am now paying. I have more and better choices now. In around 6 months I will have offset the cost of the 2 Apple boxes. At the moment I am very happy with these Apple TV boxes, if that changes then I will update this review.

ChatGPT guided me on the whats and hows when I searched on how to elevate my movie watching experience in the comfort of my home, and how to set it up, this apple tv did just that! The positive reviews in here helped a lot too. Happy with my purchase, especially because I was sent the latest one. I confirmed the authenticity before opening the box, the tvOS however, can only be checked in the settings section once connected to TV, chatGPT confirmed it’s the latest one which has all the features I need, so my dolby atmos enabled soundbar is now sounding a lot better! Sad though that the airpod max I bought next was a beta/test version, I wanted a more personal, surround sound, but there’s no spatial audio feature because they’re not compatible in terms of firmware versions, so can’t enjoy the dolby atmos in the streaming apps I watch movie on.

Der Apple TV 4K ist wirklich ein unfassbar gutes Produkt. Ich hatte davor schon andere Streaming-Lösungen ausprobiert, aber keine lief so flüssig und hochwertig wie diese hier. Egal ob Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, Apple TV oder andere Apps – alles öffnet extrem schnell und läuft selbst nach längerer Nutzung immer noch komplett flüssig ohne irgendwelche Hänger. Auch die allgemeine Bedienung macht einfach Spaß. Die Oberfläche ist sehr sauber aufgebaut und man merkt direkt, dass das System gut optimiert ist. Die Fernbedienung finde ich ebenfalls richtig gelungen: sehr schlicht, hochwertig verarbeitet und genau auf das Wesentliche reduziert. Mehr braucht man meiner Meinung nach auch gar nicht. Besonders stark ist natürlich wieder die Integration ins Apple Ökosystem. iCloud Fotos, AirPlay und generell das Zusammenspiel mit anderen Apple Geräten funktionieren einfach sofort ohne komplizierte Einrichtung. Wenn man AirPods besitzt, wird es nochmal besser: Einfach aufsetzen und der Ton wird direkt darüber wiedergegeben. Solche kleinen Funktionen wirken im Alltag einfach extrem angenehm. Die 128 GB Version mit Ethernet finde ich ebenfalls sinnvoll, gerade wenn man viele Apps oder Medien nutzt und eine stabile Verbindung möchte. Natürlich muss man sagen, dass es günstigere Alternativen gibt. Aber wenn man bereits ein bisschen im Apple-Kosmos unterwegs ist, lohnt sich dieses Gerät meiner Meinung nach zu 100 %. Man merkt einfach an vielen Stellen die Qualität und wie gut alles zusammenarbeitet. Absolute Empfehlung – würde ich jederzeit wieder kaufen 👍
