Just like with using any type of drills, you gotta be prepared. Because if not, and you use the biggest bit and it drills into a root, its liable to sprang or snap your wrist. But same can happen while drilling into red iron. But its a great product. Works excellent

Great deal, works great for digging holes for planting my garden and saves a bunch of time.

IF the ground is relatively soft, these are great. You can use them successively to "drill" a bigger hole, and once you develop your technique, you can drill the hole and empty it out. And, an ordinary 20 volt cordless drill has enough power to operate it it. Care must be taken with harder dirt and/or roots, as sudden stops can twist the drill out of your hand, or injuring your wrist. Again, take care to develop a technique to avoid this.

Digs great. Works good for gardening or putting small posts in the ground

This is an amazing tool set that has saved my back over & over. I originally purchased it to drill post holes when building the chicken coop & run. Laying it on it's side though, it will also trench. After building the 8x8' coop house & a 20x30' run dancing around rock & cacti, I used it again to put in over 20 shrubs then another large job fixing & finding a leak on over an acre. The tool cut through the desert southwest rock & dirt. Pushed the rocks out over the way too. It was used with my 1/2 hp drill & I can not tell how much easier the jobs were. The price point was great, the tools strong & easy to use. This may be my best purchase on Amazon yet & I purchase a lot. Buy this! You will not regret this purchase. I highly recommend it!

Great hole digger

I make a big garden. This set of augers made putting what I germinate in pots so fast to put in garden so the soil is nicely worked, softens the ground so the roots have a good start. I used it for my fence posts the metal and 4" wooden ones. I don't usually like to review. I think review is, I have money to buy a product and based on selection of quality build, price, availability and shipping, well -I buy the product so a review(yes like this one - I know) is not needed, but I was happy to be able to keep dirt from under my fingernails when planting my garden! I planted 170 tomatoes in about a third the normal time as previous years. Its solid, fits my drill very well and does the job even in tough dirt.

They really work well. You can actually bore a fence hole as long as the soil does not have a lot of rocks. Even then, used the smallest bit to get them out .
