These turned out to be the perfect replacements for terrible capsules in a wireless handheld setup. There is some soldering work and tweaking to carefully pull out the old ones and put these in place, but they sound amazing. Huge improvement to the sound quality.

Great product

This is a pretty good sounding capsule and an ultra inexpensive way to fix a dead 58. However ------ This is NOT a Drop-In and then solder the connections SM58 replacement. I have a standard, been around forever, Shure SM58 dynamic (not wireless, and not Beta 58). After removing the old capsule, you have a bit of work to do in order to get this replacement fitted and working. Here's the procedure that worked for me. In order to get this capsule to fit, and with the defective capsule removed, you will need to remove a black internal circular rubber piece fitted into the mic body. It prys out. There is also a black rubber ring that needs to be pried out once you get that middle section out. Next, there is also a white-ish ring glued into the mic body; you need to remove that which I did by scraping it away. Now clean up any remaining debris and glue. Now for the capsule itself. The bottom of the capsule housing has extra plastic situated partway up the housing which slightly increases the diameter of the replacement. This is molded as part of the housing and it goes around the circumference at the bottom of the replacement capsule. It's part of the capsule housing and can't be slid off. This slight increase in diameter prevents the replacement capsule's bottom plastic shell from sliding all the way into the 58's metal body. I've got a bench top belt sander and it was a quick and simple matter to use the edge of the sander and sand that ring down in order for the capsule to fit snugly. You will also have to solder wires onto the existing +, -, and ground in order to make them longer. I did that and then used shrink tubing over the splice points. So the bumper sticker version is: if you're handy with tools, have decent soldering skills, and don't mind removing the rubber internals from the 58's body, you can get this capsule to fit and revive a dead 58.

I always keep a few SM58 compatible capsules around for when I need to refresh the old ones. They work well in 58's, and sound fantastic. Nobody will know you didn't get your spares from Shure.

Review for HUMARH 2-pack Replacement Cartridges for Shure SM58 microphone: This is a perfectly usable cartridge. No, it doesn't sound exactly like, or behave exactly like, an original SM58 cartridge. At $5/cartridge, and some careful work in installing it, you'll end up with a decent microphone instead of a broken mic. Not a bad deal!

Good product but doesn’t fit into SM 58. It is different from original. Difficult to fit into the original encasing
