Not good ...... not good at all.
This seems like a god buy, normally these are £2089.90 and this was £1,596.89 from Amazon warehouse.Guitar delivered on the delivery date but very poor packing, it arrived with a large piece of the cardboard box missing and poorly taped together. An Amazon warehouse item described as "Used - Very Good - Item is in original packaging, but packaging has minor damage. Small cosmetic imperfection (less than 2.5cm x 2.5cm) on sides of item. Small cosmetic imperfection (less than 2.5cm x 2.5cm) on back of item."First thing I notice when I opened the box was a label hanging on the case which said "headstock splice and paint", my heart sank !!!Inside the case was full of wood dust and chips so it had obviously had a visit to a repair shop. The Gibson guarantee was there but all other "case candy" was missing. The headstock had indeed been spliced and painted, the repair was very obvious. The splice looked like a neat job but the paint was poor and the tuner mounting rather crude. The thick brown was a fairly good colour match but had covered the grain pattern and pretty much completely filled in the serial number and "made in usa" stamp on the back of the headstock and extended down the neck to around the 5th fret after which the grain is visible again.Obviously the repair was done with some care and attention to detail which is why the tuners are surprising because they are so crudely reattached, the E,A,B and E tuners are all sitting proud, you can clearly see underneath them and while some turn fine others are quite rough. The serial number is visible on the sticker inside the body, 11765033.Looking inside the body there appeared to be some staining towards the neck joint, I have other Gibson and Martin acoustics and all are extremely clean inside so I'm not sure if there has been repair inside as well or perhaps it's to do with the walnut body which I'm not familiar with ?Obviously it's been returned, I have no problem with guitars being repaired if they have been damaged but obviously a serious repair like this needs to be mentioned up front and will have a serious effect on value even if done well, this repair however leaves a lot to be desired.I though Amazon warehous deals are open box or returned items, I would expect a guitar lke this to show up on evilBay but it's not what I expect from Amazon.Dissaponting ....
