Great value and powerful
This is a budget router no doubt when you consider a Trend will cost over £300! but you get a lot for your money. Bought this to initially install a kitchen worktop. Have now done three as well as numerous other projects that needed 1 1/2"router. Plenty of power a as long as you set it up properly and use good quality bits it works fine. My thoughts on buying it were that if I got a tear out of it and did all of the projects I had planned it would be good value. It has been going now for 3 years with no sign of packing up so a great buy. Not sure if you were using it every day as a trades person if it would last but if you need this type of router for a home workshop I would say it will be fine based on my experience with it!

Silverline 2050W router for kitchen worktop job
I bought one of these routers 3 weeks ago to use to fit new kitchen worktops. It did the job. Comments:- 1. Fantastic value for a router with this power. 2. Quality of the main components like the motor and bearings seems fine. 3. Quality of fittings like depth gauge, parallel guide etc. is not so good. Already the depth gauge index conrol has been out twice to be greased and rebuilt. However, quite honestly this router has paid for itself on one job, and is still perfectly serviceable. 4. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the Trend 30mm guide does not fit. What I did was to buy a set of plastic guides from B&Q (Trend again, but different to the Amazon offering),and hacksawed the plastic either side of the 30mm guide from this set (so that what was left would clear the opening in the router bottom plate), drilled two new holes in the plastic and bolted it to the metal 20mm guide supplied with the router. I then bolted the whole assembly to the router using the holes for the 20mm guide. Not very elegant but it worked fine. 5. Also used Faithfull kitchen worktop router bit set and silverline worktop jig. All worked fine. 6. Doing kitchen worktop joints like this is not for the fainthearted!

Silverline 2050w Router
I brought this for a specific job, to chamfer and mortice 130mm x 130mm oak fence posts. What a amazing bit of kit! came with all the tools, so could put it straight to work. 200 posts later and still going strong. The best value bit of kit i have brought for many a moon. The variable speed thing died after about 4 hours, but hey, look at the price, it was cheaper than a hire one for a week, and i can use it any time i like. Perfect, Well pleased

Excellent value
For my projects I can ask for no more. Having learnt not to use quarter inch and the Importance of half inch fittings I can say this produces a nice cut and the motor has no issues. Longevity is unknown bit for a capable mains machine when compared to others it is a bargain. Easy to setup and of you have not used a larger router before there are lots of people on youtube to show you how. For those larger jobs at an affordable price it is recommended.

Powerful and works well for most basic things
Never had a router before but this one does the job. It loses stars for quality; a lot of the moving parts have plastic clips and handles, so it feels like a thread is going to be stripped or handle broken off after prolonged use. The main reason it only gets 3 stars; the stright edge guide does not sit flush to the base of the router. So if like me you wanted to butt the guide against a straight edge to plunge cut a dado for example, it's not possible (as far as I can find). The instructions did not seem to provide a solution as far as I could see. Also the pluge action is very stiff, difficult to know how hard you are pushing down or if you have bottomed out the bit. You have to put a lot of bidy weight on it to plunge down, and it doesn't come back up very freely. Finally, I know it is there for safety but the onoff switch is not easy if you want to mount this to use on a router table. It would require a clamp on the inside button and a clamp on the main switch if you want to turn on and off at the plug

Dangerous
I am qualified to City and Guilds in Electronics Mechanics and have been a DIYer and used power tools for 35 to 40 years. I bought this half inch plunge router 2050 watts so I could fit a new kitchen into my house. We had to be able to continue using the kitchen while I did this so completed one half first before starting in the other half. At this juncture I took out my nice shiny new Silverline router and started routing out the banjos for joining one section of worktop to another. This was just the second time I had used the router. I did not overload it, I did not try and make any full depth cuts or force the router too fast. There was a sudden strong smell of burning insulation, (something I had often come across in previous careers when handed repairs), smoke and then electrical sparks emitting from the vents at the top. This all happened within one or two seconds. I immediately turned it of and disconnected it from the mains. The router did not continue to burn but the room stank. Checking on the one star reviews it would seem these are sometimes prone to the motor bearings seizing up. This would cause the motor to rapidly overheat. Other reviewers have had similar problems. My opinion based on my knowledge, what I have experienced and the reports of other previous owners is that although a 2050 watt motor is powering the router, the motor and possibly the bearings are of such low quality and there not being a safety cutout, it renders the machine unsafe and I would implore Silverline to have this examined and rectified with a better quality machine. It may have cost only £81 but I only got to use it once. Amazon returned it and sent a replacement but I cancelled that in favour of another brand at a little higher cost. I rated the features with four stars because while it worked it was good (but should come with a fire extinguisher). Three stars as it was easy to use but quite heavy, (cheap motors are often big and bulky) and just one star for value for money, the reason should be obvious.

Great Router and a keen price.
Bought to cut worktops for a new kitchen. Need power and 1/2 inch bit capability. The bits that came with the device are all 1/4 inch for which there is a converter. The power level changer is invaluable and setting depth was a breeze. Made the job easy, even for a novice!

Engelse stekker?

Amazing value for money
Where else can you get such a powerful router with 5 collets, and 5 cutting bits, as well as straight and circle cut jigs. My only dislike is that you cannot have it switched on as the safety feature requires you to hold the button at all times. But it is there for safety and this is a powerful router, so only a minor issue (but important if you plan to use for router sled) My version came with UK plug which is easily converted to EU plug - but if in Switzerland you will just have to buy an adapter as usual.
