My 8 year old wanted to help with cooking and this knife helped introduce him to food prep. It's not sharp, but I like that it's metal and not plastic. It's not strong enough for things like carrots, but lettuce, cucumber, pepper etc it works well for. After a few uses he's ready for a proper knife but i'm really glad he used this one first. He still uses the finger guard even with sharper knives.

Brilliant first knife for budding chefs

My daughter is 7, almost 8, and from the images on the packaging and other reviews, I thought this knife might be too small and not sharp enough for her to actually use it to learn to cook. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works! The handle grip is great for little hands, and the guard is great for protecting fingers whilst also allowing her to cut safely and evenly as a guide. It works well on things like cucumbers, peppers and tofu. Carrots were a bit trickier but eventually got there! Interested to see how it does with other vegetables.

Purchased this for a granddaughter. She was so very pleased with it (I was too as it’s completely safe for little ones) and it makes her feel so grown up to help nanna with prepping food. Good quality, completely safe. Shaped perfect for little hands, very happy with this purchase :)

Safe knife set for kids. Knife itself is safe and won’t cut little fingers, but effective enough for little learn to help in the kitchen. Cuts carrots no issue. Finger guard helps with confidence but in reality is soon ditched after a few uses. Used by 3 and 5 yr olds with no issue

My 2 year old loved this knife and still uses it at 3. Completely safe, yet he can still chop various items with a little effort. Not sharp enough for all things, but great for learning how to cut with a knife and getting littles involved with cooking!

Great learning knife, not to sharp. But your kid can definitely hurt them self. So under supervision.
