Great langern that can run on multiple cheaper fuels, and use multiple coleman mantles!
This thing is pretty much a blowtorch with a mantle. I love it!It puts out a generous amount of light, and an extreme amount of heat (so much so that it can be dangerous). In addition I can run this on multiple fuels with the appropriate adapters.First off even with the mesh cage you get plenty of uninterrupted light. Its blinding to look at, the gas flow adjustment valve is very proportional and very accurate. And unlike most stoves that run on cylinder gas it maintains it's setting when you adjust it, even down to very very low. You can get it so low that it will barely provide any visible light, but it still provides ample heat to keep a car in winter or a tent warm when used properly to avoid asphyxiation. On any setting except absolute minimum the mesh cage and top of lantern will get so hot they will instantly ignite anything that touches it! Paper, wood, synthetic materials (your tent, jacket, pants, sleeping bag, etc). So this thing is extremely dangerous in that regard if not used with caution. Even at the lowest setting it still gets hot enough to burn you if you happen to touch or grab it.The steel wire hanging kit is great as it is attached to the base of the lantern that is fixed an not the removable mesh part. So you can be confident that the lamp will be securely held in place. It only comes with a single mantle and Primus mantles are expensive and can be impossible to find locally. Luckily they are the same as the Coleman #51 slip on mantles. But since Coleman no longer makes a micro lantern like this, those mantles are getting harder to find (most retail stores won't carry them) and more expensive. So I decided to try a standard Coleman #21 tie on mantle and yes it will work fine if installed properly. Those you can still get just about anywhere including walmart. So you can save yourself some headache and some dough using those. I can also use the Peerless mantles that are an alternative to the Colemans as I generally prefer those as they burn much brighter and whiter than the Colemans as they still have the Thorium in them. Using those its uncomfortable to look right at this thing on high. With the following adapters I can run the lantern on either the much cheaper Asian store pure butane cylinders, or the 1lb disposable propane cylinders.Kovea Propane Adapter ASIN# B00CFPISZWKovea Lindal valve to CB butane canister adapter ASIN# B00CFPIT06So if you car camping there is much better fuel economy to be had than the more expensive 4 season fuels. All in all a very solid lantern that can be even more useful and cheaper to run as advertised. Will probably buy a few more for fear they will one day be discontinued and no longer available.

Small, portable and a carry case.
This is a great little lightweight lantern for backpacking, camping. Easy to light, easy to store in the included case, also protects the mantle. The only issue is the mantle that came with it was damaged and as always with this type of lantern you should never operate it with a damaged mantle, extreme fire hazard.Acquiring additional mantles was a challenge, so I bought a 3 pack once found, these store neatly in the bottom of the case.I does burn hot when bright as all lanterns of this type will, and on full a flame was observed above the lantern, I wouldn't recommend full on, The glass cylinder around the mantle will get very hot, a lower setting is sufficient for light and you will use less fuel. It uses the same IsoPro canisters as my stove so it makes for multi-use from same fuel source. All around great little lantern.

Awesome lantern. I was expecting it to be a little brighter, but it puts off plenty of light for its size. Just be sure not to touch the cable that it hangs from during or after use. It gets extremely hot.

Primus Micron lantern
The product is fine except I ordered one with a mesh screen and received one with a glass globe. Not at all what was pictured.

Small but mighty
So right out the gate I love the size of this lantern. It’s no joke a mini heater too, getting the mantle on is a bit tricky but very doable. First burn in ran for about 10 mins I could see the oils and grease smoking off the metal cage. Make sure you follow the instructions and do this outside. Secondly the cable to hang it from is long and for a very good reason. It blows heat out the top you could easily warm a 2 man tent with this thing in 30 mins. I’ve seen it done. Multiple fuel types check just get you an adapter. I’d pick up a spare mantle or two. Lastly I cannot stress this enough it gets HOT i made the mistake of letting the instructions touch the cage after it rand for 30 mins and it started to brown the paper. If you use it in a tent be very cautious and careful this will leave a mark if you touch it when it’s hot.

Sturdy, nice light, defective piezo igniter (twice?)
I really like so much about this lantern. Small, light weight, the mesh rather than glass protection, multiple fuels etc. Received one and after three or four lightings the piezo igniter stopped working (i.e. no click, no spark). Received a replacement and the same thing happened. Other than the double igniter failures I love this lantern.Third time's the charm. Won't return it, matches / lighter aren't that inconvenient.

FAIL in first 30 minutes
So many good reviews...I was really looking forward to this. The igniter worked around two times...literally...then totally died. Nothing will make it spark adequately.Then...the gas valve stopped functioning. Even though it was opena ll the way, no gas coming out.Frustrated. These are being discontinued by manufacturer, and this was probably the last run with crappy quality control. Why is it SO TYOICAL that even reputable companies, who have a great product, discontinue it. And turn it to crap?It seems as if the dominant pattern is, determine if a product is successful...if it is, phase it out as quickly as possible for a new model with features that the marketing people; come up with, and rush that to market ASAP.

Fine but expensive
Guess if your reading this you have already made the classic mistake of preping the lintel with the glass in place.oh dear that will teach you not to read the instructions

A mighty Mite
I have had a number of small lanterns - Coleman Peaks and even older Primus pack lanterns - most were not really suited for lightweight back packing so they traveled with me in a saddlebag on my Motorcycle camping outings. The beauty of this new lantern from Primus is its compactness and light weight as well as the fact it mates up with a number of different sized gas canisters - small for back packing (same as my pack stove which shares the same canister) or the large size which makes this a perfect table lantern for car camping or on the patio. The light this puts off is truly amazing for the size - I would say equal to a 75 watt incandescent bulb. I have only used this lantern once since I got it - in an ice fishing hut and it performed incredibly well - gave light for over 12 hrs on a large canister (still had about 1/2 left) and heated the hut to room temp. The piezo starter eliminated fiddling around with matches/lighter/flint to start up - start up is easy with 1 pull on the starter. I look forward to packing this along on my first hammock camping trek ok the Spring - I can fully recommend this little lantern as a "must have" if you like to socialize a bit before turning in on a cold camp (in fire restricted zones) - beats the heck out of the gloom of a candle lantern, and for the weight and size, an easy addition to the pack.

Fantastic quality lantern
I recently switched to a compact isobutane stove and now also use this lantern when backpacking since it uses the same fuel canister. It is relatively light (8 oz with case) and produces a lovely warm and bright light. I have an LED lantern but it is nowhere near bright enough around the campsite. The LED lantern is now exclusively for use inside the tent and this lantern for outside. This Primus lantern gives off more then enough light and it is also very fuel efficient, using only 25 grams of fuel per hour at full output and much less at lower light levels. Intstalling the mantle was relatively easy and I look forward to using this lantern for years to come.
