the product info claims "Five synergistic ingredients".  Is this true (please link) or is it an unsupported medical claim?

Yes, there are 5 ingredients. Four are common supplements, but the 5th is a proprietary ingredient that boosts Dopamine. My Sis is a Functional Medicine doctor and had been recommending this product to me for a year or more. I'm sensitive to stimulants and was concerned it would make me feel jittery, so hadn't ordered it. I was so tired of being tired that I finally tried it. My response to it has been so positive that I plan to never be without it again. It increases my energy and cognition without any jitters.

B6 competes with l-dopa (dopamine) entering bbb. why are they in the same capsule?

It's my understanding that B6 is necessary for the decarboxylation of levodopa (mucuna pruriens) to dopamine in the brain.
From the manufacturer's website:  "The primary ingredient in DopaBoost™ is Mucuna pruriens, a botanical which naturally contains L-Dopa, the metabolic precursor to dopamine which can cross the blood-brain barrier. Additional ingredients include EGCg (epigallocatechin gallate), acetyl-L-tyrosine, quercetin and vitamin B6, all selected for their synergistic roles in the production and regulation of dopamine."

I am not sure how this compares with Balance D, all I know is that the Stem Cell institute that I took my boyfriend to recommended the ingredients in Dopamine support, as well as David Wolfe, one of the top nutritionists in the country Mucuna Pruriens and Vitamin B6}

I  ordered this product for my boyfriend who has PARKINSON'S ,   I think you should take it for at least 1 month  and you should start feeling the difference..also, it was recommended by the health care  people at the Stem cell treatment center that I took him to.. . David  Wolfe, one of the country's top nutritionists,  talks about Mucuna Pruriens  in his book about nutrition and health,  so I was surprised that the Stem Cell Center also recommended it.. I ordered 3 bottles, because my boyfriend's problem was pretty extreme.. 3 months is good so that your body builds up immunity  also recommended was Vitamin B6} then if you are feeling better, keep it up..
