I got this powder to make my homemade vitamin C face serum. Some of the reviews said it worked well and some said it wouldn't dissolve in water so I was wondering why and hoped it would work for me. Once it arrived I mixed a tiny bit in some water and it dissolved completely. So I added some more it still dissolved so I added a bunch and it didn't fully dissolve. I was very curious and started looking into the science of asorbic acid and water. What I learned is that asorbic acid will dissolve in room temperature water until it is about 30-33% asorbic acid then the water doesn't dissolve the crystals anymore because it has reached its saturation point. So I took a few drops off the top of the asorbic acid water and calculated it out to see what my ratio of 30% acorbic acid water to my homemade serum is to make me a serum that is 10% vitamin C serum. (It's 10 drops of fully saturated vitamin C water to 20 drops of serum.) Store bought serums range around 5% to 20% so if it's not dissolving into your serum it's most likely way to high of vitamin C concentration. Since I am making mine I make tiny batches so it doesn't oxidize on me and that's also why I measure my ratios in drops. I only make enough for about one week. Hope this helps those looking into making there own homemade vitamin C serum. You could also crush the crystals down into a finer powder, (with mortar and pestle) put it in a airtight jar, then add 1/32 of a teaspoon of powder to your normal hyaluronic acid serum or moisturizer (not into your bottle but into the amount your going to apply right then). That way it doesn't oxidize on you. Also you will always be applying fresh vitamin C to your skin. I would crush the vitamin C up smaller so it dissolves faster and it isn't as gritty. The crystals are already quite fine but I like powders. So far the face serum I've made seams to be working for me. I just started using it only a few days ago so in more time I'll be able to give better true results.

Make my own vitamin c serum think pit too much in the serum would be nice to have instructions go how much vitamin C to add one thing that I really don’t like about as much it’s kind of gritty and it’s sharp like they maybe we should grind it down a little more fine especially when you’re putting on your face if you exfoliated because it’s like super that feels like a little shards of glass it’s gritty and sharp so if you have sensitive skin or like thin skin, I would get like a get a mortar and pestle to grind it up to a fine powder so that it won’t scratch irritate or hurt your face when you’re rubbing it on that’s the only downfall and it was it seemed the first it was like hard to dissolve, but you really gotta do a lot of mixing and just I think it works really good because it does feel strong. I think I put a little bit too much in mine. I like burning my eyes so I have to go like later on the hand scoop but overall a good amount of products you get for the quantity that would recommend for the price and it seems like it’s a good quality. It does seem like they’re it is very tingly which means obviously it’s working. It’s very high vitamin C content. Definitely would recommend just wish they would grind it down more to a finer powder ahead of time because it does kind of irritate the skin if you have sensitive skin and the only other downfall is the packaging is kind of like a bag. It’s not resealable the one I got it was like a brown paper bag so I mean, maybe they could just do a Ziploc bag kind of packaging or you guys could stick it in and like a glass Tupperware or something but in the keep it away from like it probably cause it is light sensitive. The quality is definitely good. I could tell you that much cause you do feel your skin tingling. Just don’t add too much like I did and then a burning my eyes. I wish they had like a ratio what to add how much to add so that you’re not burning your eyeballs out

This product is an excellent value if you need to buy vitamin C in bulk and you're okay with taking the more acidic form of vitamin C, ascorbic acid. If you get heartburn or have issues with acid, take the non-acidic calcium ascorbate form of Vitamin C. Ascorbic acid has a tart-sour taste, like very sour citrus fruit. While this can add a punch of flavor to candy and desserts, it can be a bit much to handle when you consume it by itself without any added flavors. I like it when it's mixed with a sweet juice, like grape juice because the tartness is neutralized and it actually tastes good. I also use it for smoothies. The best thing about this product: THANK YOU SO MUCH to this company for packaging this in a low-waste, eco-conscious BAG instead of those bulky, oversized thick, plastic "vitamin" bottles that other companies fill up halfway with air and cotton. More companies should sell food in bags. It's better for our health. It's better for the planet. It reduces waste. It also saves the customer AND the company a lot of money! For size reference, this bag is about the size of a pound of sugar. I WILL be buying this again, especially if they keep the cost consistent!

I was extremely delighted when I opened the 5 pound package of Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C) as I have not seen such brilliant white Vitamic C for a very long time. It poured out like smooth icing-sugar. I quickly put the brilliant white smooth powder (about SGD 60, 1 USD= 1.36 SGD) into air-tight containers to prevent the Vitamin C from oxidising. I have handled may types and grades of Vitamic C as I worked as a chemist before entering Medical School. I have handled barrels of industrial vitamin C which is used to flavour soft drinks. There is an expensive Analytical Reference standard Vitamin C which is extremely costly. If you are the type of person who orders this product, you probably already have a use for it, and a formula you are not sharing with the rest! I have my own formulae too for this product which really exceeds all expectations I had for it. Secret recipes aside, there is a very sound financial reason for this product, especially if you have the skill to titrate properly. Commercially, one gram of effervescent flavoured Vitamin C cost SGD 1.80. (One tube of 10 effervescent tabs used to be $1.60 when I started medical practice, and now it is $18 SGD for 10 tablet tube.) 5 pounds of Vitamin C is 2268 grams. 5 pounds is about $60 SGD. This means that 1 gram of pure snowy white (sour) vit C from this 5 pound packet costs only 6000 cents divided by 2268 grams which works out to be 2.65 cents per gram! I do not need the fizzy gimmick of the Roche vitamin C which costs 180 cents per gram. If you are looking for pure Vitamin C, you really need look no further than this plain brown paper bag of 5 pounds of vitamin C. I can mix the 2.65 cent/g Vitamic C with any taste syrup I want, without being constrained by the commercial standard tastes of orange, grape and limitred others. If I want the fizz, I can always add carbonated drinks to my compounded 2.65 cent per gram Vitamin C. I do not think I need to go on about how to use this cheap and good Vitamin C powder as the people who order this type of product tend to have at least some scientific training on how to dilute and titrate. All they want to know is if the product lives up to expectation: it does, and exceeds expectation. It is not clumpy junk but the finest powder one can expect for this product at this price. No buyer's remorse. This Vitamin C is good stuff. 2.65 cents per gram if you have basic kitchen weighing scales and kitchen calibrated glassware. Astonishingly pleasant discovery for a former chemist. They do not make chemicals this fine nowadays!
