Absolutely stellar burner. I've had it over a year and works awesome! It has a grounded plug, which makes it much safer than the typical two pronged plugs that overheat and melt. It also has a built in cooling fan that runs after it's shut off, until the unit is cool. This protects the internal electronics from melting. I highly recommend it.

Updated reivew on the replacement one: It works great. The legs sit flat. Everything works as expected. The timer goes up to 4 hours. It shuts off at the preset time. It heats up fast. It will keep running to cool itself off once it shuts off, so you know the plate is still hot. I still wouldn't advise touching the plate until it is completely back to room temperature just in case. There is a fast setting and a fryer setting that seem to both go to the maximum temperature so I don't know if they are actually duplicates as mentioned in other posts or if the fast setting actually does heat up faster than the fryer setting. Either way, you can use the dial to turn it up or down. I really like the look of this. The cord is 48 inches (4 feet) and is 3 prong for the United States outlets and is heavy duty. This arrived with the legs not sitting flat so it wobbles back and forth. I returned this one for a replacement. I will redo the review if the new one comes without this defect. It was shipped in the box that the manufacture put it in and so when it arrived the box was bent in and smashed so this could have happened in shipping. Hopefully the new one comes in a box and not just the manufactures box with no protection. It seemed to turn on and heat up fine but without sitting flat its not really usable.

This draws 1850W which is exactly 15 Amps, so it's as powerful as they can get in 110V applications. I use it outdoors with a 12Ga extension cord (be careful not to use thin cheap extension cords with this). One should use a heavy-duty 15 Amp rated cord. It has a fan to keep the base cool. The top on the heating element is separate from the rest of the unit. I thought from the images that the top was a single piece of plastic but no, the element is separate. It does light up red when it's very hot. The commands are easy to use, and works as follows: Press the On button, and then select one of the presets. Once it's on, then, and only then, can use the knob to adjust the setting. There is also a timer that's optional to use. The display shows how many Watts are being consumed, not the temperature.

Octavo awesome Quiet Fan, Do not cause Lights to flicking. *( I use few of these different brand name. ((StuLang Brand) very noizy fan and cause Flicking light while I am using DC to AC off grid Inverter. If use Regular power from the Electric company the Stuleng is fine). This Octavo is Awesome, It would not cause the lights to be flicking, if it does that mean that it could cause damage to the Inverter you/I using and other electronic in the house. Most important is the Refrigerator and Other EXPENSIVE sensitive devices. Happy 1st day so far. will update in the future how long it last. I have high hope it last me over 1 year. The Fan is 90 mm, can be change easy. I give 4 stars because when I open it is dirty: oily hand on few spot on top glass and something sticky on lower corner and few other spots, total 6 spot on glass difference size. bottom looks ok all around.

Stable, easy to use, solid quality for a 115V outlet — but the power is nowhere near 1800W. I bought this for my patio cooking table since my induction cooktop doesn’t work with some pans. We cook smoky or splattery foods outside to keep the new kitchen clean. As a retired EE, I had to check the 1800W claim. At 110V that would mean 16.4 amps, which is over the 15A limit for most outlets. Even at 120V, it would max out the circuit. My power meters show that when the unit displays “1800,” it’s really pulling about 1140W (114V at 10A). Funny enough, the model number is “OC-1050,” which is much closer to reality than the marketing label. That said, it works. Steaks, burgers, and my wife’s 6 quarts of stew cook just as well as on our kitchen IR range. Fan noise? Not a problem outdoors. It’s quieter than a hair dryer, more like a computer fan on high. The smooth top with the knob on the front makes cleanup easy.

8-7-23 updates: after I returned it and got the refund, the OCTAVO support team reached out to me and apologized for the inconvenience. As a gesture of goodwill, they offered me another one for FREE. The second one was delivered last Wednesday. I have tried it with 5 different cookware with different bottom and they all worked fine with the burner. 1800 Watt is pretty powerful for everything I need to cook. The built-in cooling fan is a bit noisy but works well. after cooking for one hour, the edges, sides and bottom were not hot. The side handles/eyes are very handy. Make it very easy and safe to move/carry around. Original review: After took it out of the box, I tried it with 5 different fry pans, got the E5 error message every single time. The one page user manual pointed me to Solution Center. Wasted 1 hour online, still could not find the online solution center, not even a home page of the manufacturer. Had no more time to waste on it and just returned it .

This is the first and only product like this that I have purchased since college 50 years ago. So I can’t compare it to anything else. Nonetheless, I give it a thumbs up. We bought this to use during a kitchen remodel. The only down side is the fan which runs constantly while the appliance is on. But we got used it and chalked it up to a safety feature. It took a little time to get used to defining the heat settings by watts. But once I understood what meant high, medium, and low, I was fine. I was delighted how easily it cleaned. I never had burned spots to scour, unlike my stove. And the heat adjustments responded quickly— again, unlike my stove. I’m glad we have this, and I’ll keep it to use in other situations.

Not enough heat as only half coil heats up not the full coil as shown in pics. Else everything is good but heat is not enough to cook.
