A classic

This book has been selling for years and years and each Christmas I give it to my beginners as a treat and lure to improve their playing: the most popular Christmas carols are set in the primary key signatures, mostly C, G and F; the treble clef hand moves in simple (pre-Grade 1) hand shifts; the bass has a helpful indication for the pupil of where to place the left hand, which keeps to the same five-finger position throughout the piece. This gives almost instant results and sounds like the "real thing". For slightly more experienced students (Grade 2) the book is useful for encouraging sight reading. I've tried other books, but somehow this one hits the target for both pupil and teacher.

this book has been going for ages. For a Grade 3/4 sight reader it's a good buy, and for a young beginner - they would be able to learn them very quickly. Reluctant sight readers, here's a book you ought to have a month before Christmas.
