Happy With My Purchase
This was a last minute purchase as I needed a CD Player in time to play my Christmas CDs ! I did some quick research and decided this would be a good buy and I am very happy with it. Sound is good and it is easy to use. I like the length of flex as it makes positioning it easy and I like that it is so easy to move around. It looks good too, and is a compact shape. I have not tested the radio so cannot comment on that. Service and delivery were very good, but...........I was charged postage even though it qualified for free delivery. This was in part my fault as I had misunderstood the system and thought that as a previous customer I should click on the "one click service" (or suchlike). When I realised I was to be charged I phoned Amazon but in order to cancel the delivery charge the girl said I would have to cancel the order and start again. It was getting very near to Christmas so I did not take that risk! Overall, I am very pleased and would continue to use Amazon.......would just be more aware when choosing payment/delivery system.

Great little radio/cd/cassette player
This is a neat sized radio which has a great sound. The controls are a little close together but manageable, and I am able to record from the radio as well as play cassette tapes very easily. The only downside is that the tape does not click off when rewound or fast-forwarded, but stays humming until it is manually turned off. This stops me giving it 5 stars, but it is a small detail and the general quality of the radio is excellent.

Quality Player for Talking Books
I am delighted with this purchase. My old player broke down, and having previously owned a Roberts radio, I knew it was a quality name. As I listen regularly to talking books, both on CD on cassette - my own and from the library, I still need a player for these combinations. I consider this an excellent machine. The sound quality is clear and the diction precise. Although I have not used it for the radio very much, I have tried it and that is also very good. The price was excellent and I thought it was extremely good value. I am sure it is equally good for playing music as it is for the spoken word. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys listening to talking books!

Beautiful but sometimes delicate.
I bought this Roberts CD/Radio/Cassette player some months ago, in late summer 2012, after my previous portable stereo box from another manufacturer stopped working (the switch to select between CD, radio or tape failed). I was pleased to be able to buy the good, better-looking Roberts product, and I am still glad of it, but I have discovered a 'however' about it. Apart from not being a DAB radio (I know you can't get them attached to Cassette recorders, for whatever reason) it turns out that the internal amplifier is temperature sensitive. When the ambient temperature falls below about 14 degrees centigrade, it stops working. The CD spins, is being read, or the radio is on, but nothing comes out of the speakers. This is unfortunate given the abnormally prolonged winter here in the UK 2012/2013. Those finding it difficult keeping up with fuel cost inflation nowadays should bear this in mind, and the manufacturer should get to fixing the issue in future products.

Robert CD Radio Cassette Player
A compact and pleasingly sturdy product. It is perfect for my kitchen worktop, especially as the aerial doesn't need to be extended very far to get good reception (unlike my digital radio). I also like the standard plug as it doesn't stick out too far onto the work surface (again, unlike many digital radios). I listen mainly to Radio 4 and CDs and the sound is clear for both speech and music. The volume control knob and small (CD/tape/off/radio) selection switch on the left are a bit fiddly, but not really a problem for me. The handle makes it very easy to move around. I am so pleased with this product and just hope it proves to be reliable.

SOUND
This was bought for my wife who has visual impairment. It looks good and feels solid. The sound quality is good and the volume more than enough. The controls are well spaced and my wife has pimples stuck next to those she needs. A nice piece of equipment. A period of regular use has passed with my wife managing the machine without a hitch. I would not normally do updates but as there have been negative reviews l wanted to share our experience.

Just what I wanted
For a good while, I spasmodically searched for a truly portable radio (i.e. with a handle) that also played tapes and CDs. With the Roberts CD9960 I have found it! I was not expecting "concert-hall" sound and this machine doesn't give it. However, sound reproduction is good for a radio that does all three things, and which you can carry around. The only fault I have to fin is that the controls on the left (On/Off etc) are fiddly and hard to read at a distance. And the radio tuning dial is hidden at the back. I had to consult the instructions to find out where it was! Overall, a valuable recruit to my audio army!

Highly recommended
Brilliant boombox I highly recommend it to anyone. Not only does it look good but the sound quality is fantastic even with the old tapes from the 80s and 90s, sound quality was great. It's not a cheap boombox but you get what you pay for and this was well worth the money.
