TTS Maglite LED Upgrade for 3 to 6 D and C Cell Torch. Brightest Conversion Currently Available.

I have a 4-cell Maglite that is heavy and, compared to modern LED torches like the LED Lenser, it produces a dull amber beam, so was consigned to a shelf to gather dust. Then I saw this conversion, which if the reviews were accurate would give my much loved Maglite/Hammer/Nightstick a new purpose The new bulb is like night and day compared with the old bulb. Literally. Like comparing a new car HID headlight with an old carriage lamp. As a born skeptic I first changed the batteries and cleaned the lens and reflector for a fair comparison, the old bulb did its thing and glowed happily. Fitting the new bulb is easy; a direct and perfect fit replacement for the original Mag incandescent bulb. It just works. I changed the bulb and WOW, I could now signal low flying aircraft if I so wished. It shines better, it glows much much brighter and whiter, the beam pattern and focus is clearly defined, and it shows the new generation of torches that it’s still the Daddy. Yes it is still big, and heavy, and will cause an injury if you drop it on someone (is that a benefit ?), and is not really something you want to carry in your bag every day. But as a thing of function, durability, and beauty, it now has a place in the home, not just as a paperweight. The design icon is back. Bonus. The Cree LED is super efficient as well as being super bright, so your batteries will last many times longer than with the original incandescent bulb. All in all, excellent value transformation of a much loved relic into something truly useable once again. The seller is an independent based in the UK, goods shipped quickly from UK stock. I bought this a few years ago and it continues to shine well. Much brighter than the original on a larger Maglite torch. This torch is used a lot and requires 3 D cell batteries. I used to have to change every few weeks but with this LED bulb the batteries have last far, far longer. A worthwhile upgrade.

I didn't know these Maglite Cree LED replacement bulbs were available until I looked at the Amazon site. They make such a big difference to the brightness of the any torch fitted with the older pre LED bulbs (Maglite torches are very well made quality items new models all have LED bulbs). I upgraded a 2xD battery torch and a 4xD battery torch and found changing the bulbs to be very easy and hade no problems (I removed the torch batteries for safety reasons). I used the opportunity whilst doing the bulb upgrades to apply a little silicon O-rings grease to the torch body screw threads and checked the condition of the batteries. The seller did a good job, the bulbs arrived in good condition and were delivered on time by Royal Mail.

I bought my 6D (6 cell) maglite about 30 years ago and was amazed with its performance at the time but the the years I have bought a few LED torches, including a Dewalt one, which are excellent and my beloved Maglite felt a bit redundant but this bulb has improved and it is brighter. but not as bright as my Dewalt DCL043-XJ 18VI and perhaps I shouldn't . I measured my old bulbs power consumption on a bench power supply and at 9V it drew 0.9A (9V x 0.9A = 8.1W) and the new one one at the same voltage draws 0.3A (9V * 0.3A = 2.7W) so roughly speaking the LED bulb draws 1/3rd the power of old one and it brighter so the batteries should last around 3 times longer. Its not quite this simple as the LED driver in the bulb will exhibit a negative impedance so as the battery voltage drops it will draw more current, so the brightness should stay constant but it will drain the battery faster at the end of the batteries capacity compared to the original incandescent bulb. However overall you should get a a lot longer battery life - twice as long or more and it should give a more consistent brightness. Also I run my torch from AA Nimh batteries in type D adaptors so the overall voltage is (6*1.2V = 7.2V) so with the incandescent bulb the brightness was not the same as primary cells but with the LED bulb this difference is negated.

I had a Cree LED conversion in my 6 cell Maglite previously from around 8 years ago and whilst it was brighter than the original tungsten bulb, it didn't over-impress me with its illumination ability, being outclassed by the modern tactical torches, powered by 3x AAA cells. So I decided to see if "The brightest LED" would be an improvement on the earlier model. Well yes it is. It gives a nice crisp daylight white light which can be focused down to give a really good projected beam which put a clearly defined circle of light around 5Ft diameter on a wall approximately 40 metres away. The thing I like about these conversion lamps is the fact the focus ring of the original Maglite is retained and they look like original. They're also a two minute job to fit. As for burn time, on a 6 cell Mag, it'll probably outlive me. I'm going to upgrade my 3 cell next and see if I get the same performance. Summary. Are there brighter flashlights on the market? Yes there are but there's something comforting about carrying a 2Ft Maglite around at 2am and it now has the lumens to go with its other credentials.

I can highly recommend this TTS Maglite LED upgrade unit bought for my Maglite 3D cell torch to replace the old filament bulb. It was very easy to fit by unscrewing the top of the torch, removing the reflector cone and carefully pulling out the old filament bulb unit from its socket. The replacement LED unit then simply pushes into the hole where the bulb was previously located and one just needs to carefully replace the reflector cone and the top cover back onto the torch. The new unit fitted perfectly and worked at the first try. It gives a much brighter and whiter light beam than the old filament bulb, even with the partially used batteries. As mentioned by other reviewers, there is a dark inner section of the beam if one adjusts the beam focus to a wide setting, but for a narrow/medium beam focus position the beam is fine. I can highly recommend this item and give it a 5 star rating.

This quick and easy upgrade to my old 3 cell Maglite really is remarkable. The difference in brightness is staggering and compared to the original filament bulb is so much clearer. The bulb is a simple replacement - take the old bulb out and simply fit this one and away you go. The battery life should now also be greatly extended as the power consumption of the LED is far less than the filament and also the voltage tolerance is greater so the LED brightness will not fade as quickly as it would with the original bulb as the battery deteriorates. Maybe a little expensive but definitely an upgrade that is an immediate noticeable improvement.

Parfait ma maglite a plus de trente ans!!!! Acheter au messagerie lors de mon service militaire j’ai fait une rénovation complète il ya deux ans avec peinture et un kit de rénovation mais depuis que j’ai changé l’ampoule par une LED v C’est une nouvelle maglite

j'ai utilisé cette ampoule led sur une maglite 4D, le rendu est parfait. l'ampoule arrive protégée dans une coque en plastique et une petite enveloppe en kraft/papier boules, seul bemol ce petit colis est lent a arriver et sans suivi.

J'ai reçu cette ampoule très rapidement, conditionnée dans une petite boite écrin. Très lumineuse et plus puissante que la précédente ("3 cell XE" Xénon me semble t'il). Reste à voir la longévité.
