Yes, the stainless shell should protect it. Depending on the speed and flow volume the attraction and magnetic holding ability will vary.

What size Battery does this use?

No battery necessary as it's self powered by a permanent magnet. All you do is slide the telescoping handle closed to magnetize and pick up swarf in the shortest position and then pull the top or end knob back like a slide hammer to release the filings into a bin or bucket.

Perfect for Evolution type chop saws and non-metallic benches but it sticks quite strongly to ferrous metals, obviously. Easy to use like a vacuum cleaner nozzle in one hand but you just have to pull it off of the saw or machine you're sweeping when it sticks to it.

Excellent quality, smooth action and powerful magnetism. A joy to use and you'll kick yourself for not buying one years ago.

Can also be used to transfer steel plate, handfuls of nuts, bolts or other fiddly parts without getting oily or chasing them round the bench and probably good for retrieving items from Evaporust or other fluids like when your oil drain plug falls into your container under the car!

I'd say it will easily lift over 2 kilos which is about the pulling force required to pull it off of whatever fixed objects you get stuck to in use or just pull the knob to demagnetize if your cup of tea is in striking range of a sideways blow.

Speaking of which, it's probably ideal for self-defence, allegedly. There's a good bit of weight to it.!
