Hahaha...watching the raccoons walk by this thing for the first time in the middle of the night was hilarious! We move it around often and it seems to work better on the deer than it does on the raccoons (after they got used to it). Especially with the head that spins and the lights that come on and the sound it makes. Fun little thing for the yard and watching who it 'gets' and who just ignores it.

It keeps the deer out of our garden. It makes a noise, eyes flash and the head moves when motion is detected night or day.

After having this Owl for several weeks we have come to find that 1. Battery will go dead if there are a couple of cloudy days! 2. Does not scare any squirrels of chipmunks. 3. Has no effect on Deer or any other animals that are decimating my garden vegatables! At ths point it was a true waist of money and had not effect what so ever! Truly dissapointed!

It works pretty well at deterring squirrels from our persimmon tree, but I feel that the placement of the solar panel on the back of the head is not very effective. That is because the head rotates and stops in different positions, this results in the panel facing away from the sun and not charging. So the owl stops hooting due to a low battery condition and either needs to be repositioned to face the sun, or taken down and charged from an external power source. A better design would be to have the solar panel in the body so that it doesn't rotate and can be pointed in the optimum position for charging.

This owl was a great replacement for my 25 year old plastic owl that we had near our pool back then. This new owl works great, is Solar powered with an alternate USB charging cable, has a rotating head, flashing eyes, makes noise (with alternate silent mode), excellent motion sensing, etc. However, the motion sensing is almost too good since it starts making noise at the slightest motion, even from behind. Additionally, it doesn't hoot, but rather it squawks, which is a little annoying. I would much prefer a "hoot" sound vs. squawk. The biggest problem with this owl is that the mounting brackets are way too flimsy and the owl is too top heavy to mount on a branch or a fence. It is lightweight, but the brackets are just not strong enough, especially with the little screws that mount in the plastic at the bottom. There's no way that the little mounting brackets and tiny screws would hold up this owl on a branch without falling over. I finally had to drill some holes through the plastic on the bottom of the owl and mount it on our fence using cable ties. That method worked well. I also put a metal plate on the bottom for stability. I still recommend this owl, but just be prepared to modify it if you want to mount it on anything other than a wooden pole.

Hasn't kept rabbits out of the garden. However, it has scared the bajesus out of some people.

Surprisingly effective. We have struggled with woodpeckers chipping away at our siding. Not so since we put the owl on a tall stick.

Good product for stopping birds etc get worms deters them from eating up thelswn

Purchased this product to deter squirrels from chewing my garage lead roof. I thought it would charge itself by solar and therefore could be left in position on the flat lead roof but the rotating head kept returning to different positions and therefore the solar panel was rarely in the correct position facing any sun. I got fed up keep climbing on the roof to retrieve the owl for charging so now don't bother using it.
