Solid. Heavy. Huge.
This is a beautiful, and extremely heavy knife. Well constructed, very sharp, and should last forever. It is much larger than the picture and the description would have you believe, so be warned. It's not small. But why would you want a small cleaver? I bought this for tasks my chef's knife is just not up to, and I think this more than fits the bill. Also, I know what I'm grabbing when the zombie apocalypse hits. It is not messing around.

Stay away from Lions Deal
Cleaver is too heavy for the person I bought it for so cannot honestly rate the item since she hasn't used it. But the seller, Lions Deal wants to charge a 15% restocking fee (which is totally unnecessary) but will not waive it in the name of GOOD customer service. I do ALL of my shopping on the internet and I have NEVER been hit with a restocking fee. Last year I placed 100 orders with Amazon alone. Want great customer service, stick with items sold and shipped by Amazon.

Heavy
The cleaver is way too big and heavy for the average person. This cleaver is for people with big hands--Michael Strahan, husky football players, heavy weight fighters product. Don't buy it if your not in this category. I gave it to my uncle, because he was looking for one for himself. I had to get a six inch cleaver for myself. My uncle loves the cleaver, but I am only giving it a three, because I couldn't use it.

This particular cleaver is very nice: I roll through chickens with this thing and ...
As to the reviews above--what's up with that? It's a *cleaver*; it's heavier than a small santuko or general purpose knife, ok? It's not a sledgehammer, though, for God's sake--it's for hard cutting and, ahem, cleaving, chores. Mine weighs slightly more than one pound--530 grams--woe betide the cook who can't deal with that. The purpose of the implement is that you don't trash your chef's knife cutting bones, and if you know how to use it it is fast as lightning. This particular cleaver is very nice: I roll through chickens with this thing and it is great--and my chef's knives thank me. It's no work of art, but it's a fine cleaver.

Wonderful instrument
This is a high quality instrument. It is bigger than I thought it would be. Had I realized how big it is, I would have purchased the 6" cleaver and I think the smaller one would be more useful. It is very heavy. However, I bought it for my son and he will be better able to handle the weight than if I was using the product.

The destroyer
Perfect cleaver. This thing cuts anything you put down on the block. The weight distribution and feel glides through meat and bone effortlessly. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.
