Cuprinol Exterior Woodcare, White Daisy, 2.5 L

Cuprinol is my favourite brand of paint when it comes to painting garden furniture or fencing.This tin of paint was no exception. The colour is exactly what I was expecting and I had no issues applying the paint to my project.I do find the paint to be quite runny and I also find that the wood absorbs a lot of the paint (which is the idea to help waterproof it). I personally found that 3 coats of paint gave me the desired finish I was looking for and I’m quite chuffed with how it looks. I chose to brush paint it due to only having brushes and I was more than happy with the finish and how easy it was to apply.The paint came delivered in a box which made it quite clear which way up to transport it and this helped prevent any leaks in my opinion from the delivery stage. Also, the tin is covered in tape to prevent the lid just popping off.The tin is like most paints and I found using a screwdriver is suffice enough to help lever the lid off. It’s easy to pop the lid back on and then remove again when doing extra coats.I found that one coat took just under an hour to dry.I can’t really complain about any aspect of the product. It’s only paint at the end of the day.Hope this review helps in anyway

This review is specifically for the White Daisy colour Cuprinol Garden Shades.I prefer to use preservative wood stains that are absorbed by the wood (like Sadolin or Sikkens) but needed a white colour for cosmetic reasons. I've previously used Cuprinol products on fences, and seen that they last but eventually fade from UV light degradation. However a new softwood soffit that I had painted (no exposure to the sun) has lasted very well with no signs of degradation.So decided to give the white colour a try in preference to primer and gloss which would require annual decoration. Time will tell how it lasts, but the main point of this review is to counter comments made by other reviewers. The paint is runny, and a first coat of white is almost translucent on new pine. So I have needed many coats. And I have applied many coats - always thin, always working in well to the grain. The paint does dry with a waxy sheen, but I have successfully applied up to 5 coats on the most exposed pieces of wood over a 2 week period. Further coats have certainly been possible within 8 hours, and days after. They have all taken well, dried well (without drips) and have resulted in a very clean, bright opaque white finish. Grain isn't visible, but texture and knot profile is upon close inspection.A good tip would be to pre paint any end grain or surfaces that are going to be hidden (if possible) before fixing for increased protection against damp or water ingress.Hope this helps. A good alternative to using gloss paint externally.

Does what it is supposed to do.

Thicker than other garden shades from rival companies

Firstly arrived early. At 630 in the morning, didn't ring the bell but hid out of the way. Perfect!I bought this originally but ran out so bought similar white paint from a well known DIY shop.Ordered another pot of this that was cheaper than said DIY shop anyway.

I have used this paint before with no problems.The paint I received was too low in viscosity (extremely thin) with poor coverage.The 2.5 l can I received was leaking round the lid. In my opinion I think this can had been used and topped up with water and returned explaining the low viscosity of the product. Better to pay a higher price and get a standard product instead of reject work off material.

Fabulous goes on beautifully looks amazing

I was very disappointed with this product it was delivered very quickly but one box was leaking as the lid was broken which would not have been to bad if the paint was not watery. I have used this brand before but I'm not impressed with this one . Will need more than 1 coat .
