My Preferred Sweetener, Love the Top
This is one of my preferred brands of stevia, which I use as a sweetener in veggie smoothies and herbal teas. One of the things I like about this particular brand is the top, which has a shaker side, and also a side you can stick a measuring spoon in if needed. I am going to assume that some shoppers looking at this product are trying to cut back on sugar for some sort of health reason or concern, and are investigating this as an option, so I'm going to tell it to you straight up. Does this taste exactly like sugar? No, it does not. Does it come with the health risks associated with artificial sweeteners on the market such as Nutrisweet, Sweet N Low, and Splenda? No, it does not. Stevia is a natural, plant based product that has been used for decades in other markets, but if memory served, took some time to catch on in the US. If I'm remembering correctly, some of it's US competition didn't want it on the market here because of it's status as a natural product and worked hard to keep it off the market. However, studies have shown that the current extracts being used as sweeteners have no known adverse health effects in humans. Sugar in the quantities currently consumed in the standard American diet in particular is bad news, super bad. Everybody knows about the common risks for things like diabetes, but many people don't realize that even in a non obese person, heavy sugar consumption can damage the liver. I had this straight from my GI doc when I was being treated for medication induced liver damage. I was told they expect dietary and obesity related liver disease within the next 15 years or so to become the number one killer in this country. It's a sobering figure. So again with the straight talk: No, this doesn't taste like sugar, there is a bit of an aftertaste. But then, sugar works on the same pathways as narcotics do on the brain, which is why they use it as a painkiller for newborns in the hospital setting. And why the food industry dumps it in products that traditionally, before mass industrialization of food products, weren't prepared without it. They know it's addictive as heck. But I have been using this for over three years now, and I can tell you...it is something you get to the point where you don't even notice the aftertaste. I know everybody wants to find a product where they can have their cake and eat it too and have it taste exactly the same, so to speak. That just isn't how it works, not with eating habits, not with exercise. Sometimes you have to give something up you really like for something that means more to you in the long run. Monks fruit is another natural option you can look into, and it is less bitter, and I use that for some things as well, but the long term effects haven't been studied as much as Stevia, and I'm a girl that loves safety first, which is why this is my preferred sweetener.

Great taste!
I've tried a few sweetners and this is the best. Always happy to use it in coffee, on cereal. Great sweet taste without any odd aftertaste.

No yucky aftertaste
Through the years all stevias have been sampled at this kitchen counter. This Sweet Leaf is always the best. It says it's pure and not adulterated with other substances, it is a fine granular texture which is easily dissolved in cool to warm liquid, and it's delicious. Very pleasing in coffee, tea, dressing, wherever one would choose to blend it. Recently I've crushed then blended raw whole cacao beans and nibs with a splash of coconut milk and stevia. (almond milk works as well) a splash of vanilla extract or even vanilla bean paste. Oh, yeah, forgot to mention it began as sort of a dare. So in the end it took 2 really expensive high speed blenders (also available on Amazon) to get this incredible smooth, sweet chocolate paste which I froze and broke off pieces sort of like chocolate bark. Super delish. So sweet and really low in calories but high in the poly phenols that chocolate has in its profile. Re 2 blenders. The big blender is capable of breaking up the whole cacao bean. The nibs don't need this, tho. The second blender receives the fairly fine mixture and blends it smooth--add a few more splashes of coconut milk and it's a chocolate pate. Voila. Kinda a kick to experiment. You can always just eat it off the spatula, too.

I like the shaker better than the packets.
I have been using the individual packets of SweeLeaf Stevia for a long time. Recently I realized that I just don't need a whole packet in my iced tea or my oatmeal and I was wasting partial packets. I saw this shaker and decided to try it. It definitely was the answer to my problem. Now I just shake some of the sweetener into my drink or food and there is no waste. it tastes the same as the packets and it is a taste I am well used to. I don't even notice it. It did take a little getting used to when I switched from Splenda to Stevia but, after a week or two, my tastebuds acquired the taste for this sweetener, The shaker container has both little holes for shaking out the powder like you would salt and a side that opens so you can put a spoon in or pour out a large amount. I don't need that large side and I tend to open the wrong side and that annoys me so I taped the big side shut. The holes could be smaller. They allow quite a bit of the sweetener out and I have shaken out too much at times. That is my only complaint about this product and the container. It needs smaller holes because the sweetener is strong and I only need a little in most cases. But otherwise, I am happy with this item. The sweetener is safe and the container makes it easier to use just the right amount. Just be careful not to shake out too much!

Convenient for traveling
I bought this on a whim because I liked the pure stevia liquid version and wanted to try a powdered version. I find that it travels really well, without worry of it leaking. I took it on a weekend trip and used it in my hotel room. I did not take the liquid because liquids always seem to leak no matter what you do. I don't buy the packets anymore because it's a pain to have to rip them all open and have all that trash. But I wanted something convenient and this does the job. It's a little harder to dial in to the exact amount you need, but you can start with less and then just tap a little more in if needed.

I have never found a better sugar substitute!
This is the best and most convenient sugar replacement I have ever found. It does not contain erythritol which has been linked to cardiovascular problems and it does not contain dextrose which is a type of sugar. Instead, they use inulin which is considered beneficial in many ways. All of my recipes containing sugar have been tailored to use this product. However, I should mention that I have not tried it in baking because I avoid those foods altogether. The container makes it easy to measure it out into the recipes or to sprinkle it to taste, but it can clump if you are not careful. I can work around that. As a side note, I do find it works best in foods with some natural sugars and acidity (like tomatoes or apples) to balance it out. It also seems to do relatively well in vinaigrette. Sweetleaf, you've made a fantastic product and I would be lost if it was ever discontinued.

My Second Ever Alternative Sweetener Review... No Bitterness, Don't Eat it Straight, Clumping
The first sugar alternative I purchased was the Pyure All-Purpose Stevia blend. I was shocked by how good it was so I decided to try another sweetener. I've read people's reviews about bitterness from stevia or sugar alternatives so, I was hesitant to buy this product. Unlike the Pyure stevia blend I purchased, this product's sweetness comes 100% from natural stevia so I was even wearier about the potential bitterness. I opened up the jar and dipped my finger into the powder to try. It was mind-blowingly sweet (so I don't recommend eating it straight). I added some into my coffee with some milk and this was infinitely better. I didn't get any bitter taste. I do agree with other reviewers who gave he product one star, however. The stevia definitely does clump up after a while. I guess it's because moisture is getting into the powder. It did get kind of disgusting to get out of the jar because it turned into little pebbles. By the time I thought I was done with the jar, I realized there was still about 1/4 left that had hardened and stuck at the bottom. Maybe transferring the powder into an actual air-tight container like a mason jar could prevent this from happening.

The BEST
This is the best tasting stevia that I've found anywhere. It doesn't have the aftertaste that other sweeteners do. I found that other brands of stevia always have other sweeteners included in the ingredients. Not this one.

great product
Diagnosed as pre-diabetic (A1C = 6.4) last year (Oct 2024) so had to change diet or go on another pill. Opted for the diet change (gave up junk/snacks) and tried various sugar substitutes to help out the cause. I settled on this one because it is mostly natural stevia leaves, has a taste that I could live with, easy, convenient and works for me. My A1C is now 5.7 and I lost 31 lbs so far, feel better and no pills for now anyway.

Best Stevia
I like this product as it has no ingredients that bother me. Plus, the price was right. I previously paid almost 20 bucks for one container, plus tax. So this is a good deal.
