You should only squeeze & release, this will do the tick just fine. Please don’t squeeze & pull, you could end up pulling eyelashes out.

Does this hurt when pressing down on ur lashes with it?,it looks like it would hurt cuz of the metal

It doesn't hurt anymore than a regular eye lash curler but it takes more precise placement and use than a regular curler. I also find that it doesn't give as good of a curl as a regular lash curler

How is this different from the other model?

It can be more precise and you can get the outer corners eye lashes so much easier. I love mine :)
