does job, to a satisfactory standard
Well... The superpet silent spinner wheel 6.5" is an all in all excellent hamster, I am going to give you the most unbiased hamster review I possibly can. First of this wheel comes with a stand or a tab at the back of the wheel which enables it to be clipped to a wire (horizontally wired) cage, the cage does not however clell to vertical wired cages. The wheel itself makes minimal noise but then again you will never get a silent wheel, as the hamsters build pace on the wheel it begins to make a rumbling noise IF it is clipped to a wire cage, or maybe this was just my wheel, the wheel comes in a variation of colours as you may already know, so this makes the wheel all the more attractive, it is best to attach this wheel to the cage because MANY MANY hamsters have been know to topple over and knock down the wheel whilst trying to get directly underneath it while they explore every inch of their cages as they do and hamsters have nor the strength nor intelligence to pick it back up. Also when the hamster builds pace on the wheel it begins to make a small rumbling noise the sort of noise you hear when you stick your index fingers in your ears then use your thumb to smack the ear lobe, nevertheless I think this hamster is a good wheel and by the way it Is perfectly OK!!! For syrian hamsters, what most people don't know about syrian hamsters and their excercise system is that a hamster will walk on a wheel (if need be) to burn off the calories if the wheel is too small, that's why it is important to buy a hamster wheel big enough for your hamster although if you want your hamster to live the luxury life, buy the 12 INCH

SILENT SPINNER FOR MY 2 GERBILS
This is the seconed silent spinner i have purchased and they are good quality and as for quiet ok there not silent but they are quieter than most they dont squeak like some can as these have a bearing rather than plastic rubbing against each other although that is easy solved with a little bit of cooking oil for lubrication. If you spin the silent spinner by hand it is quiet and smooth but you must remember that once your pet is on there running round sudenly it becomes a slightly unbalanced weight so natutaly it would try to wobble slightly a bit like when your car tyres have not been balanced the faster you drive the more vibration you get through the steering wheel, so the heavier the pet the more unbalanced the force and this is what can cause some slight noise through the cage especialy when attached to the bars so how quiet it is can also depened on how your cage rattles as the unbalanced running of the wheel tends to shake them slightly so if this is what your wheel does its not faulty it can not be helped as there is no way of balancing the weight, so when my russian dwarfs run on it its is very quiet but my heavier gerbals causes a more unbalanced force so slightly more noise, But for your money you do get a very well made wheel that is as smooth running as they come and because it uses a bearing there should be no squeaking noises and less vibration so it does try and still worth the extra money even if it is not totaly silent.....

Great wheel, amazing for big rodents!
I got this wheel for my degus, as i wanted one without spokes, as it can hurt their feet, and also was attracted by the 'silent' part of the name since they are kept in my bedroom at all times, including at night. Although a bit more expensive, this wheel is very big so worth the money. All 3 of my degus can run on it at the same time, which they love doing to be honest, which is good. It is made of thick plastic, so is quite chew proof. You must be careful if buying this however, as it is one of the biggest wheels you can buy, and is good for things like chinchillas and hedgehogs, so bear it in mind, i have a large 2 tier chinchilla cage for my degus, about 80 cm high and it just about fit in, as the cage is split in half for them to climb. It is 'silent' as said in the name. It makes no noise itself, but still makes noise when the side of the cage rattles when it spins fast, so also take this into account. Overall though, I was really pleased with it :)

Very quiet - Suitable for Dwarfs only!
I ordered 2 of these for my pair of dwarf hamsters. It was obvious straight away that I had recieved a broken wheel as 1 made a very quiet purr, whilst the other made a very loud clacky noise. I sent it back straight away through Amazon returns and they supplied me with a replacement in good time, which was fine. Loved the colours which I was supplied with - pink and purple, the broken one was green. The wheels stand alone in the cage very well, and neither of my hamsters have managed to move or knock them over. They also have an attachment so they can be held up with the bars. They are very attractive, and of course very quiet. The hamsters love that it is weighted on ball bearings which makes it easier for them to run faster. Very reccomended! The 6.5" is a good size for a dwarf hamster, although TOO SMALL for a syrian, particularly a fully grown one! Please purchase the 12" size for a Syrian as bending their back as they run will cause long term spinal problems and they will be very unhappy!

Poor design and UNSAFE
I bought a 6 inch Silent Spinner a few years ago and liked the quality of it and the fact that there was no long spindle. Now I needed a bigger a wheel for my syrian hamster and after spending a long time looking for a suitable 8/10 inch wheel and being unsuccessful, I decided to buy this monster. What a waste of money. The plastic is of good quality and the mechanism on the back is a great idea to support the weight of the wheel, but they are the only two good things I can say about it. The wheel is very stiff and oiling it has made no difference. Also, the screw that acts as the axle is very short so the yellow part on the front cannot be screwed on enough to stop it from coming off, and without it being on too tight to make the wheel even stiffer. Not only that, the screw only comes through a hole in the plastic with resting on a tube or shaft like most wheels, so the weight of the wheel is constantly grinding on the metal screw. The wheel has come off several times whilst my hamster has been running in it, though luckily I have been in the room to prevent it from falling on him. I'm glad I was only able to purchase one wheel at the time, otherwise my other hamster could also have been in danger. This wheel is unsafe and I will be returning it after 3 weeks of problems.

Okay Wheel...
I keep my hamster in my room, so a silent wheel sounded brilliant at the time. The wheel that came with my cage squeaked and rattled and was a bit too small. When I found this one I couldn't believe it was almost £10 for it, but with nowhere else to put my hamster, I bought it. It came in about 4 days which was quicker than I expected, and originally I used the back clip to put it on the bars of the cage, although the clip is very chunky and stretched the bars quite a bit. I'll tell you now; IT IS NOT SILENT AT ALL. It didn't squeak, but it still rattled against the cage and made almost as much noise as the original wheel. After a while I moved it onto the stand, which helped LOADS. As long as it stays on top of the sawdust or a level surface it doesn't rattle about, but I still wouldn't say it was 'whisper quiet' as the description says. I guess it would be a lot quieter with a dwarf hamster, but my Syrian still makes quite a bit of noise with the actual running. It's a good fit so far, but I don't know what it'll be like when she's an adult. Not exactly value for money or whisper quiet, but decent if used with stand.

Large super silent spinner pet wheel
Excellent product - it is quiet, which is ideal if you have your pet in your room. This wheel is the ideal size for my Campbells Russian Dwarf hamster, especially now he is fully grown, the mousewheel was too small for him. They are easy to clean: just detach from the stand and unscrew at the back. This wheel can either be attatched to the bars of the cage or it has its own stand, which is quite stable, even on the woodshavings in the cage. There are slight grooves which allow the hamster to grip the wheel whilst running but not too pronounced which could hurt. It is advisable to wash the wheel when the hamster is asleep as my hamsters can get agitated if they haven't got their wheel available, even for a second! I also have a couple of the smaller ones for my Roborovski hamsters which is ideal for their size. If you have more than one hamster, it is probably advisable that you have at least one wheel per animal to lesson the likelyhood of fights breaking out - something I soon found out!

The silence is almost painful...
Well, I never EVER have time to write reviews of things, but as soon as out little dwarf hamster tried out the new wheel I just had to share the good news... There is NO sound at all... I was worried before it arrived that it would have to be free-standing in the cage, but no, it has attached very nicely to the bars of the side and this doesn't add any noise either. An added bonus is that the inside is quite smooth - not so smooth as to stop him from getting traction for running, but such a relief as the old one had very sharp plastic ridges all around and he has, tragically, lost several toes... so fingers crossed this will preserve those that remain... I suppose that if he loses any more from here on I should worry that he is snacking on them when I'm not looking. I would say that if you have a particularly big dwarf hamster maybe get the next size up - I'm sure he'll be fine in it, but he is pretty dumpy and his back nearly touches the central piece. All the humans, rabbits and hamsters in the house are winners out of this. The old wheel is in the bin and I am pleased with my best purchase of the year. Oh, and it looks pretty damn spiffy to boot.

Fair price, good & quiet wheel. Buy it!
No complaints, and the hamster really seems to like it! [Update: It does get noisy eventually.] PRICE, QUALITY, PRICE FOR QUALITY: Good quality, appropriate price (on Amazon). I dunno what's the reviews saying the yellow thingie falls off; mine is fine and it's been weeks. I'm using it on the ground with the stand. SIZE: I heard the next size down was too small for roborovoskis except for babies, so I bought this one. It seems comfortable and spacious for my adult female roborovski, but not so big that I feel like I went TOO big. I'm happy that she has more running room (side to side) and that it's a flatter run for her (rather than her having to arch her back). GETTING DIRTY: Yes, you have to wash the urine & feces off of it from time to time, but why have a pet if you aren't willing to take care of it? This wheel is probably much safer and much more comfortable for their little feet than a wire one that the urine & feces can drop through, so, that's just how it goes. Suck it up for the sake of your hamster (and your ears). Besides, I don't see why wire wheels would need to be cleaned any less often (even if the need to do so isn't as immediately visually obvious) but, sadly, I bet a lot of people go weeks or months letting them get all nasty. That's a problem with the OWNER, not with plastic vs. metal wheels... NOISE: It's not utterly silent (duh), but it's so quiet that I generally don't realize that she's using it unless I look and see it. When you're lying in bed and thinking about it, sure, you can hear it a bit, but I was going insane from the previous wheel (even with olive oil on it), whereas now I never even think about it, ever. Her scritching and scratching about the cage is distracting for me, some nights, but never the wheel. [Update: Yeah, it gets noisy eventually, and now I'm back to needing earplugs. Took a few months though, not weeks.] Recommended! It's also attractive. I'm glad mine turned out to be purple :)

Long Lasting and well Loved, Good, Bad and Ugly
TL/DR: A long lasting and dependable wheel from a company with great customer service. If you take care of it and keep it clean it will outlast your pet. This is a long review, but I wanted to give some serious and non-biased opinion on this wheel. I also want to note that I am in absolutely no way associated with the company, just someone who loves their products and this specific wheel. The Good: This is the only wheel my hedgehog will use, period. I am very grateful for that though, as it’s silent and he runs all night every night and never stops. The near silence (it has a very soft rattle where I know its moving if I’m not completely out) allows me to sleep as his cage is right next to my bed (in my room the dogs cant topple him over since he has an open top cage). I know I won’t wake up to a broken toe or ripped out claw from getting snagged in bars and crevices like most wheels did and have to make a dash to his vet and clean up the crime scene like mess since he kept running. I get the 12 inch because anything smaller seems to arch his back, but he is a larger hedgie and a dwarf or pygmy will do fine in a smaller wheel. But the 12inch wheel is still very compact and only stands out maybe 5 inches using the stand and so he doesn’t lose the kind of space spinner and disk wheels would take. I love the versatility of the stand vs. bars option on how to attach his wheel. It allows me to have just the one wheel and I can move it from his cage to his play pen to his play yard and back so he can still smell that it is his wheel. The quality stands up very well given the number of hours a day it gets used and it is now 2.5 years old and still going strong. I had my last one nearly 5 years I believe before Jasper passed away from brain cancer and it still had lots of life left in it (never reuse a toy when you lose your pet and get a new friend, they aren’t a replacement and they deserve their own toys and possessions that are only theirs). With a proper method it is easy to clean properly, but more detail on that in the ugly section. The Bad: The wheel does, after a while, start to show wear. Such as the color isn’t as vibrant, the clips are harder to open after a few dozen cleanings, and the bearings may need some TLC to keep up their whisper quietness (i.e. it’s a machine part, put some pet friendly oil in it if it starts to squeak). The plastic screw on the back that allows it to be attached to wire cages can cross-thread easily and also wear out after a while. I fixed that by using a little thread tape and a pair of pliers (with cloth to protect from damage of course, it is plastic after all), However, I figure most people aren’t moving this wheel from the stand to a wire indoor playpen to a separate wire outdoor play yard and back to the stand at least once a day weather permitting for years so that is probably just me being a crazy hedgehog owner and testing this wheels limits. The stand, it is an absolute nightmare to take in and out of the plastic sleeves that holds it. The fit is very snug (for good reason, it adds stability and strength since it is not attached to anything like when you attach it to the wire bars), and they must have used the fires of Mordor to forge their strength or something, I still fight with that stand every time to get it back in, and I can only get the grip needed to remove it using a fulcrum like pliers or a bar of some sort. That being said, it doesn’t bend if you are sane about it, and the rubber/plastic coating over the metal has yet the scratch or crack (it is dented permanently in a few places from times I lost my patience though but not the inner wire, just the coating). If you have a pet other than a hedgie (or one that likes to nibble or chew on everything) know that if they get it to break or peel replace the wheel. I don’t know if it will hurt them if they eat it but why take any chances here, we aren’t talking anywhere near the cost of a vet trip or even an annual check up to replace the wheel. The Ugly: I debated on if I needed to add this part, but given some of the reasons for bad reviews I will, because this wheel deserves a legitimate chance in your home. This wheel comes apart: the running platform/wheel is made of a white back portion that starts half way across then running area and attaches to the bearings and either the stand or the wire holder, and a colored part that attaches to the white about center of the running area and creates the lip to hold them in and gives it that pop of color. These pieces are attached to each other by (depending on size) like 4 to 8 clips that overlap and snap together that are plastic (one side sits higher than the other) and it creates a beautifully flat and smooth space for little feet and toes to safely run. These clips are strong but thin, they are not designed for someone to rip apart, put a little pressure on the outside pushing in the one that sits lower and the inside pushing out on the side that sits higher and they pop apart smoothly and don’t break. Our little friends weigh way less than a pound, so it doesn’t take much to hold these parts together so be smart about it and it will last. If you somehow break it call the company or email them they are incredible at customer service and stand by their product as much as they possibly can. This wheel is plastic and basically any animal that runs on it has claws it’s just the nature of the beast (and some like hedgehogs are covered in sharp quills that sound like claws when they scrape). They are going to make scratching sounds now and then, they will scrape and they will make other small animal in motion noises, its normal but a little louder because the wheel can amplify it and project it a little more since it is enclosed and not wires bent together. If your little guy’s claws are bugging you, turn the wheel to face another direction and it quiets it significantly because it's no longer pointed at you. The wheel, again is solid and not wires so what you have are little rectangular ridges sticking out that let their feet find traction and run with it spinning (because no wires). This is pretty awesome to deal with the traction loss of being solid, but its additional areas grime can get into and breed and claws can scrape against (making scratching sounds). The grime is really the only ugly part I see on this wheel and it is to be expected. The Grime: Nearly every small pet owner starts out with the basic wire wheel and knows and loves the ease of cleaning. Once a week/month or whatever you chose, you would give a spray and wipe when you cleaned out the bedding. You never really saw what your pet let loose on it and you didn’t care because you didn’t have to touch it. Well again we are dealing with a solid wheel, and if this is a new thing to you realize it retains what you pet does in it and we need to be adult about keeping things sanitary. Some pets are litter trained and will hop off, go to their litter tray and then hop back on. Some aren’t litter trained and just go where they go, but all will at some point leave a deposit in their wheel and keep running because they are rodents and honestly just don’t care. If you luck out and catch it before they get covered, stop them and do a fast spot clean, if not be prepared to have a mess to clean and a pet to bathe. When you clean a solid wheel, bacteria wise I would suggest a pet-friendly cleanser once a day (like $3 at Walmart will get you wipes and spay) just to keep the bacteria from their paws at bay and clean up small messes, at the minimum I would suggest a weekly deep clean (don’t hesitate about doing an additional cleaning if they have a big mess). A good thing about this wheel is it comes apart into 4 separate pieces, I usually fill my sink with vinegar water or dawn and hot water, submerge and leave it for a good 10 or 15 minutes to soak before I dig in with a brush and scrub it down. Anything that somehow got caked into a crevice or what have you will break up, soften and fall away in this process. Even if nothing is caked on anywhere it makes certain the bacteria are dead and your wheel smells fresh and is safely clean for further use. Taking the 2 sides of the main wheel apart are imperative for proper deep cleaning as things get stuck between the sides and don’t need to fester. Make sure you do a thorough job rinsing the wheel and set it out to air dry (if its sunny out I always let mine dry in the sun for a bit) then put it back together and let your pet have at it again. (Again, I don’t think this is something I should have to say but some negative reviews are stuck on how messy the wheel gets, so it’s important to know what you are getting into).
