Seriously - don't bother
Complete and utter waste of time and effort - you definitely get what you pay for and this is purely cheap rubbish - could not even open the thing up to start with - and when you did bits of plastic fell off then never went back again. Bulb fell out, plastic snapped and springs pinged - if you value your Sunday afternoon, then this is not a "5 minute job" - it will turn into an hour plus of irritation - we have taken our old white bell, that is more than 30 years old and just painted it black - should have done that in the first place and saved the planet rather than buying this cheap plastic rubbish

Design disaster - don't waste your money
Like many others,. I was looking for a replacement of existing item apparently of same design. This has to be the worst designed bit of equipment that I have come across and its only saving grace was the fact that I haven't wasted too much money. It's supposed to be surface mounting but it isn't - you have to drill a large (at least 15mm) hole to accommodate the central bell pus mechanism otherwise any pressure from the coiled wires will push the front off. You get two 25mm long screws, which is a massive overkill because all they do is to hold a thin plastic plate to the door frame. This plate is supposed to hold the front white unit containing the bell push mechanism but the only connection between the two is a tiny plastic lug. There appears to be nothing holding the round light and bell push into this white plastic bit. I have now had to go elsewhere looking for something that will actually do what is, in the end, a very simple job but a job that is clearly beyond the designers of this bit of kit.

Disappointing
Disappointing, this product has been designed "down to a price" instead of "up to a standard". It is fiddley to install as the contacts are very close and it is easy to accidentally short circuit them when fitting the bell wire. The design of the bulb holder is very poor and the bulb contact seems to be very intermittent, it is also disturbed when the bell push is pushed. (What else is a Bell Push for, is the name not self-explanatory?)I am also quite surprised that when everything else is going to LED illumination this is still using an old-fashioned incandescant bulb.In the end I put my 20 year old bell push back, having managed to replace the bulb in the old bell push with the one from this bell push.Recommendation: buy this item when you need a replacement bulb for your older well made bell push!

So fiddly and flimsy!
After moving to a new house and finding out the doorbell didn't work I checked that the chime, transformer & wiring were ok so just thought I could simply replace the button.1. Screw the clear plastic backplate on...easy as there were already holes and raw plugs in the wall.2. Unscrew the bit where the wires need to screw in for the contacts. Has to use pliers to get off but as plastic had to be careful not to crack it.3. Once removed I unscrewed the small screws but it was soooo fiddly to get the wires under so had to take them off completely. That meant that the the 2 contacts are now loose.4. Now was the even more tricky bit, getting the 2 parts to screw back together ensuring the tiny bulb was in place too.5. Then the spring popped out and I can't get it to stay back in under the 2 little tabs!! This is where after 2 hours of trying I gave up, as it is now impossible to line up all parts without the button popping out or dropping the bulb. Yes I eventually dropped the bulb and now can't see where it went on the ground outside my front door, so I have given up!

Flimsy but works
It's very flimsy but what do you expect from under £5. I needed to replace my stuck old Byron bell pusher button so looked at Amazon and despite the high prices for some bell buttons the reviews were pretty negative so I made a decision to buy the cheapest version and replace for the time being till I find a perfect one.It was a replacement of previous Byron button so worked straight out of the box no drilling etc.I have no hopes for it to last more than couple of months but that's good enough for me.No I wouldn't recommend Byron products.

A Bit Fiddly to Install but Looks Good
This bell push was a couple of mm bigger than my old one so it was necessary to drill into the wall & fit a new rawl plug but I was aware of this when I purchased it. It was definitely a very fiddly business wrapping the wires round the screws but we achieved it in the end. The bell push looks good and illumination during darkness is lovely but I hope I don't have to change the bulb in the near future because I think it will be another fiddly business. However, for the time being I'm really pleased with this purchase.

Cheap & nasty but does its job
For £3.99 I shouldn't really complain, but you do get what you pay for and this is rather cheaply put together and badly designed. What should have been a 5 minute job on a Sunday afternoon turned into a 45 minute frustrating experience. The screws are of cheap metal that chewed up despite using an appropriate cross-head screwdriver. Attaching the wires was extremely fiddly. And when finally assembling the unit and getting the cover to stay on was again a frustration. After everything was in place it did at least work, but I would not recommend. Unfortunately these days everyone wants a new fangled WiFi all sing and dancing doorbells so there seems to be little choice in old fashioned door-pushes.

My Ding a ling
Ding dong the bell goes and what a relief I've now installed this bell push. It was great to get rid of the note on the old bell push saying please knock and to hear the dulcet tunes of the doorbell Mind you, people still knock and not ring the bell !! You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. For such a small piece of plastic ingenuity, everyone in the house can now hear the bell. It doesn't mean that they will answer the door of course as they'll leave it to muggins here.If you buy this bell push, it won't change your life but it was very easy to install (if you've got more than a few brain cells) and looks like it should last for a long time.
