A fabulous movie

Good HD transfer
I was put off buying this bluray in the past because of crictisms of the picture quality. However I have the picture quality as good as the majoity of blurays. So if you are a Beatles fan it is well worth buying this bluray

Excellent movie let down by a muddy Blu Ray transfer.
The movie and new 5.1 Dolby and DTS audio are incredible for Beatle fans. However the picture quality is lacking, most of the film looks soft and lacks texture or fine detail. I suspect this is an old transfer taken from the 2007 DVD release rather than a new restoration. It’s a bit of a let down considering how incredibly sharp and nuanced Yellow Submarine looks on Blu Ray.

A FAB FILM FROM THE FAB FOUR!!!
I received this from Amazon on Monday morning and have probably watched it a dozen times since. This is a great film from the greatest group ever and is worth every penny! The limited edition boxset includes a reproduction of the original script, a hardback book (featuring photographs taken on the sets, an introduction by Richard Lester and an appreciation by Martin Scorsese), a reproduction 1965 theatrical poster and 8 US theatrical lobby cards, as well as 2 DVD's-the first is the film, the second features documentaries, trailers etc.Onto the film itself - I can't fault either the picture or sound quality, they're both amazing. I've heard some people say that this film is outdated/of its time, and I suppose in a way it is, but that doesn't mean that it's any less enjoyable. 'Help!', like 'A Hard Day's Night', is a great (and fun) film and you can see that The Beatles were having a blast making it.This is a fantastic boxset all-round - BUY IT!!!

A film of its time - worth seeing again just for the songs
I got this to play for my teenage children who have been showing some interest in the Beatles.I wonder which of today's pop stars will still be as popular in 50 years time?'Help' is a very light-hearted show case for the Fab Four containing some really great Beatles songs from the pre Rubber Soul period. Not a great movie by any means, but contains a few genuinely funny moments and some unintended slices of what life was like back in the 1960s. Is it my imagination, or were a number of the scenes highly influential on the Monkees a year or so later? On a slightly serious note, the upbeat tempo of the title song masks the rather sad message contained in John Lennon's lyrics.I hadn't seen 'Help' for at least 30 years. It was great to see it again, but it will probably go to the back of the cupboard for another few years.Five stars for the songs, of course!

Nothing new here ...
I was rather let down to see that the Blu-ray of HELP! contains nothing new (apart from the film being in the new format) as the contents are exactly the same as the dvd release in 2007 - same design, artwork, graphics, and the same booklet with that same introduction by Richard Lester, and appreciation by Martin Scorsese - so if you have those already on the dvd, you are buying it all again on the blu-ray. It has the same 30 minute making of, the lost scene, etc.I expect more than this if buying a favourite again. At least the recent Blu-rays of those 60s classics like THE SERVANT and BILLY LIAR had lots of new material, interviews and documentaries, which made for an interesting package. It may well be that there is nothing left or new to show about HELP in which case it should have a sticker saying "Contents just the same as on the dvd". Recommended then only to those who wish to upgrade to Blu-ray and are happy just with that.I am only a recent convert to Blu-ray, and have not bothered to re-buy too many films in the new format (ok, HELP! is the sixth so far) and I won't be shelling out for too many if they are just putting out the same stuff with nothing new. Its brilliant but lazy marketing to put out exactly the same stuff, not even new graphics, for the Blu-ray people to buy again. Chutzpah or what !

A masterpiece worth this beaufitul restoring
The touch and style of this movie, although perfectly representing its golden era (swinging london, free cinema, pop culture, all aspects so beautifully preserved thanks to a great BD transfer) makes it so stunning because you can appreciate how ahead of its time, daring, beautifully shot it was.Richard Lester managed to be as brilliant as a director like The Beatles were as a music band: witty, british, unpredictable, pop and fine and funny as only few can be.Of course the whole movie is a vehicle for Beatles music and songs (visually the best scenes of the film) still you can enjoy all the rest, have fun with the crazy touch and mood of the situations and the gags. Not just a musical masterpiece, but also a cinematographic one.

Forgotten how good it was
I had been wanting to add this to my collection for some time now but curiously, had never gotten around to it. I was there when it was first released into the cinema and recall spending my pocket money to see it four times over the two weeks it was on at the Odeon!I had forgotten just how much this movie makes you smile. You could say it is a bit daft and dated in parts but then the music starts playing and it's brilliant and once again you are singing along to each track. If you are after a feelgood movie then you will not go wrong with this
