For almost forty years, How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby has been the standard reference for couples trying to increase their chances of having the son or daughter they hope for. In this new edition of their classic book, Dr. Shettles and David Rorvik provide authoritative scientific studies and compelling anecdotal evidence demonstrating that the Shettles method continues to produce results unmatched by any other method. Dozens of testimonials confirm its ease of use and rate of success. How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby explains the simple, at-home, noninvasive Shettles method and presents detailed steps to take to conceive a child of a specific gender. The properly applied Shettles method gives couples a 75 percent or better chance of having a child of the desired sex. Some researchers have reported success rates of up to 90 percent! Review: I had a girl :) whoop whoop - I had a girl :) whoop whoop :) I used the science bit about timing and it worked. We have two boys and at 42 this was always going to be baby number last, so I thought I'd give it a go, as I really secretly wanted a pink one :) we didn't find out what we were having and were so happy for our beautiful baby girl to have arrived :) I beleive it helps tips the 50/50 balance and its worth a shot :) Review: Having tried it yet, review based on quality of information in book - Like my topic said, I have not actually started putting Dr Shettle's advice into practice; I just wanted information well before hand. The book is well-written,it gives some scientific proof of 'why' the good Dr's method is the one that is most 'likely' to help you achieve the sex you desire. I like that he took time to examine some of the other theories like Elizabeth Wheelan's, which actually say the exact opposite to Dr Shettles, but which also in some ways validate his method. I like that he also gave information as to how pills etc affect ovulation because I always wondered about that;I use implanon and thought maybe I could chart my ovulation whilst still using it but now I know I can't. I have read other literature from other researchers; a particular one by researchers in Nigeria which followed Dr Shettle's theory (whilst not actually basing their own research on his i.e. it was an independent research) but which came to the same conclusions as Dr Shettle's. So I hope that when the time comes, I will have a lovely princess to add to my family of handsome princes. Good luck everyone.x

Worked for us!
Book is clear and uses science. I used this method when trying for our first baby. We swayed towards a boy as i always knew i wanted a boy first...although we really didnt mind either way! It worked and our little boy is 4 months old. We are going to start trying for another baby in about 4 months time so thought i would re-read and begin tracking my cycle. Will likely sway for a girl but again would be thrilled with another boy. Will update review (if i remember) if we are lucky enough to concieve again and what gender.

The method does work
I used the information from this book many years ago to try for a boy after having two girls and it worked. I bought the book for my daughter who wanted to try for a boy after having a girl and it worked. I also bought the book for my daughter in law and son who have a daughter and wanted to try for a boy and they're expecting a boy. So I can confirm in all 3 cases we got the chosen sex. Although I must say in all 3 cases we didn't follow the guidance 100%. I do believe the advice in the book made a difference and tipped the balance in favour of the chosen sex of the baby.

Fascinating
I have a son and would ideally like a daughter next. I haven't yet tried to conceive using this method as you have to take a few months to work out when you are ovulating before you can start trying. Having read the book, I now realise that when conceiving my son, I inadvertently did everything Shettles suggests to get a boy, which makes me hope that there is some truth in it. The method requires that you work out when you are ovulating and explains how to do this (it is fairly complicated and takes up a fair part of the book). You then time sex for different stages of your menstrual cycle according to whether you want a boy or a girl. In addition, it explains other secondary methods to increase your chances such as raising or lowering the man's sperm count. It is nothing which would be too difficult, unhealthy, expensive or restrictive so I concluded that it was worth a try. It emphasises that it is not foolproof and that if you follow the method perfectly, your chances of having the gender you want are about 75-80%. The theory relies on the idea that boy and girl sperm behave differently and so you can create an optimal environment for one type or the other. I don't have a scientific background and I can't comment on whether that is true or not. I tend to think that this method would be more widely known if it was. In addition, there are other theories about gender selection which contradict this one and say that you should do the opposite! However, the book is very interesting and if you are trying for a boy, the suggestions in the book would all help you to conceive generally. If you are trying for a girl then the method is a bit more difficult to follow and it may slow down your conception efforts. Personally, I like to feel that I am doing something pro-active in achieving a balanced family; even if I have another son, I will still be pleased that I tried this, rather than always wondering, "what if...?"

You could fit it the main concept on a page...
I cannot comment on effectiveness of the method yet, but I think this book could be much shorter. The key advice would fit on few pages, and I really do not think you need all the other info on this book. But it is worth buying & reading, I skimmed throug many pages though .... Now let’s see if it will work :)

It worked for me!
It worked! Just had the baby DNA testing and it’s a boy :-)) I only had intercourse on the first day of peak, which I found throught the clearblue ovulation tracking monitor... I actually got pregnant 3 times within six months by only having intercourse on the first day of peak , but only this baby made it to the second trimester. I highly recommend this book but you will need to track ovulation as well for a better outcome!

Accurate
We followed the Shettles method and ended up with the result we were hoping for, but I honestly can’t say if it was the method or just coincidence. Either way, we’re happy it worked out.

Sehr gut verständliches Buch in englischer Sprache.

Mientras sepas que no está respaldado por la ciencia
Me pareció interesante indagar en este tema, son embargo es importante saber que no está respaldado ni comparado por estudios científicos actuales formales, sólo son teorías
