Works. Produces graphs of activity over time
Works. Interesting how radioactive different bits of land are.

Hunting down uranium glass just got more interesting
So I am a enthusiastic uranium glass hunter, the collection only gets bigger all the time.but I will admit I have made a couple of mistakes when I haven’t had a 395 UV torch on me.I had held of buying a Geiger counter as wasn’t very sure what I was looking at to be honest, but came across this one and read all the reviews and they we’re basically very positive.so I purchased one with the next day delivery. Perfect timing delivery wise and even had to give the driver a code so that made it super safe delivery wise. Neatly packaged and the unit itself was bubble wrapped within a sturdy box.no need to do anything on initial use as everything had been set up already including the date and full battery charge.having 82 pieces of uranium glass I was spoilt for choice. I went for a mix of old and modern and unknown to test the variations.I’m impressed. It gave me a basic room radiation reading of about 26cpm, the older Greta vase eventually came up as 119cpm,(I had to move it away from other pieces as the counter is that sensitive it was picking up other items nearby) and the modern one around 31cpm I also have some Vaseline glass which I’ll test later.all in all for the money I think it is great value and a look forward to taking it out and about and using it as well.always helpfully to double check things

Clear display, measurements vary
The measurements are varying for background and individual objects but without an old watch (Radium) or an old type smoke detector it's hard to confirm it's efficacy.

An eye opener to the world of radium dials
Learning how to repair vintage watches is fascinating, but I can subject you to radioactive radium when you open a case. This GC has allowed me to identify and quantify the risks, and help me make an informed decision about how (or if) to attempt a repair. It's easy to use, reactive, flashes red when you get a really "hot" one, shows different units plus a graphing function. You can also download to your PC (not Mac ready but there are workarounds for the IT savvy).

Possibly essential if your house is built over granite.
Where this machine could be invaluable is in houses built on granite sub-strate where Radon gas could potentially be detected, especially if it’s released following an earth quake. Radon is an invisible, odourless radioactive gas that can leak unnoticed into basements in granite areas. Normally short term exposure is harmless but long term exposure can be harmful. It has a feature to download data to a PC, which is invaluable if monitoring for Radon or accidental fallout etc. but, amusingly, PCs tend to be trashed by EMF during a nuclear explosion, unless you keep them in a Faraday cage when the risk factor increases… What preppers may really need is a personal dosimeter per person and a Geiger counter, plus knowledge of how to reduce their exposure to alpha, beta and gamma rays following a nuclear explosion. And a wind-up radio kept in a Faraday cage JIC…

The digital display is easy to read, and the device is user-friendly, making it simple to operate even for those new to radiation detection. Its sensitivity and reliability provide peace of mind when working with vintage watches. This Geiger counter is a must-have for anyone needing precise radium detection at a great value.
