This series uses cartoon style illustrations and humorous narrative text to make key topics in Science and Geography both accessible and engaging. This approach encourages children to read about and understand complex ideas. This book takes the reader back millions of years to tell the story of a dinosaur's death. Through this story, we discover how fossils are formed. We also learn how they are discovered, removed, researched and preserved in museums. This book also contains an experiment, more great facts to know, useful websites and an index. Review: Science through storytelling - As other reviewers have pointed out - these books make science accessible in a meaningful way. The narrative works brilliantly (format perfect for bedtime!), telling a simple story based around key facts. Illustrations are just right, and the book itself is of a good quality. We have collected the series for our 5 year old who has thoroughly enjoyed them. Highly recommended. Review: well worth buying - a very good little book for little fossil hunters , informative , easy to read and fun!

We all learnt a lot
Reading this to my 5 year old nephew taught us all a lot about fossils in an entertaining way. It's probably better understood by ages 6+ but the illustrations held his attention while I read. The "thought bubbles" coming from the fossil confused my nephew a bit - as the fossil is supposed to be very dead. However, as a child who is very excited by dinosaurs, I think he will enjoy coming to this book again and again.

FAB!
I bought this book because my three year old son asked me (several times) what a fossil was and I realised that I actually had no idea. This book explains about fossils in a very clear way. Both my son and I learned everything we needed to know. I read it to him just before a trip to the natural history museum which made our trip extra enjoyable. I'm know going to buy the other titles in the series!

My boy loves this book!
My little boy (3.5yrs) has loved this since we got it for him and has lead to many fossil hunts and a campaign to go to the Natural History Museum. A good book that explains the process in simple terms. Just a word of warning the dino in question dies as part of the story (no real surprise) and this does lead to some questions....
