mother knows best.
susan sarandon proves in this film that she can pull off comedy roles very well. recently widowed shefeels like herlife has no real purpose so she tries to run her daughters life instead which only causes fall outs. new oppurtunities develop for her which make her feel more importantand focused. a enjoyable movie which does not need too much concentration.

Time well spent
Really enjoyed this movie! I watched it on Mothering Sunday and it was just the right thing! Acting was great, casting was excellent, funny and poignant writing, nice flow. I really donβt have anything negative to say about this movie. I laughed and cried and considered it as time well spent.

Susan Sarandon and JK Simmons? What's not to like? Great Film!
This came as a real surprise. I love this film. Susan Sarandon is admittedly one if my favourite actresses - and she is just wonderful in this. In nearly every scene, she steals the show! She has the ability to take on comedic roles as well as turning on the tears. Some may describe this as being schmaultzy - but it's just short of that. I highly recommend this film. It's great for a wet Sunday afternoon - and has the added bonus of JK Simmons - what's not to like?

Donβt bother
I found this film one of the worse film I have seen in years. Maybe they made it so we can see how not to be, for us not aspire to this American dream life. abysmal American movie.

Lovely film
I watched this on a long-haul flight and found myself laughing out loud at parts and then openly crying at others. I think it's a beautiful film that looks at mother-daughter relationships, grief, and the prospect of starting anew when you really don't want to. The casting is very good and the leads really deliver in their roles. I bought a copy for myself and also one for my mum, who also loved it.

Absolutely beautiful, heart warming
Absolutely beautiful, heart warming, and realistic movie. The characters have depth, and the script is believable, and relatable. The movie is consistent through out and doesn't divert into sub-stories that don't really add to the plot. Beautiful acting from Susan Sarandon and Rose Byrne. It has it's moments of comedy, and has that fresh undertone, but makes you reflect as a son or daughter, and mother's persistent and unconditional love. Absolutely loved it!
