To know if you have the correct amount I.e 100g flour, do you just wait for the plate to lift up or do both plates need to be equal?

When the scales are balancing in the middle(still with movement. ) this is the correct weight . If the scales weight end haven’t moved or have dropped to bottom it’s not enough ingredients or too much ingredients. Hope this helps

How do you calibrate the scales?

To make adjustments to the balance, unscrew the weight compartment located beneath the weights plate. Small ball bearings (weights) will already inside this compartment. An extra bag of these weights is provided for minor additional adjustments.

Is the wooden stand removable, or attached to iron scales?

The wooden base is just a platform to sit the metal scale on. It is removable. The scales are great, just like my gran used to own
