- KitchenAid Universal Steamer Basket, 10-Inch, Stainless Steel

WOW, it works so well, is foldable and stores so easily! And this stainless steel steamer basket is very pretty also. Feeling much better about steaming my vegetables too - much more nutritious. I have found the KitchenAid brand to be very high quality (we have their refrigerator, range and microwave oven) and this fits right in with our expectation of beauty, longevity and practical daily use.

Very nice. Alton Brown listed it as one of his essentials. I thought I would give it a try. Good design, sturdy, and easy to clean.

This was a request for a holiday gift they enjoyed it. It was the perfect size for what they were looking for. Works well and the value was great.

We had this steamer fir about a month. 2 of the pieces from the top fell off, and although we could put them back on, they continued to fall apart every time we used it. We went back to a previous model/brand, and its working fine.

This is a pretty good steamer basket, although whether its longevity is any better than the cheap ones remains to be seem. The central handle is not as pleasant as I expected; it reduces the basket capacity more than you think for larger foods (e.g. corn on the cob), and the handle is metal, so it's hot when you want to use it to take out your food. I don't know why they didn't make the handle cap plastic, since the rest of the telescoping handle is.

This steamer works well. Opens and closes easily and the feet on the bottom are great for not scratching my pans.

I bought this because it was Kitchenaid and higher priced and thus assumed it would be durable / good quality. Highly mistaken. The center handle of the steamer basket is held on by 3 tiny screws that loosen and fall off with very little resistance/weight. Within a couple uses, it broke off when I tried to lift it up. I should have returned it then, but instead I found a tiny screwdriver to painstakingly reconnect the little screws what turned out to be temporarily. This has happened 4-5 times since when I purchased it 6 months ago and now the screws don’t hold it on at all. $30 in the garbage and now I have to buy another one… but not from Kitchenaid.

A high quality steamer basket made with (relatively) thick stainless steel compared to most alternatives. It doesn't dent or bend out of shape as a result. I'd prefer if the legs were an inch tall but at half that, the steamer takes less space.

I cant use it as I cant get it to open out as per the picture on the webdite and the box. There are no instructions with the steamer.
