These Go Anywhere!! Extremely Practical!!
THESE are neat. I was trying to toddler-proof various things around the house (seemingly a new item gets added to that list every day...) and was using the drawer latch/locks but discovered my overhang on the kitchen cabinets wouldn't allow the drawer locks. In steps these bad boys. The adhesive doesn't budge when the kiddo yanks on the handle, and so far they've held up great after dozens of clips/unclips. Opening them is as simple as sliding the unlocking mechanism. I can't speak to removing them (fortunately haven't had to do that yet), but the length is perfect. Pay attention to the instructions that once you 'lock' your strap into place with the right length, it stays there forever. Something I didn't really think about was which side to place the anchor and which side to place the clasp. This is more important than I had guessed... For things like the trash can, the toilet seat, the fridge, and the dishwasher, you really want the piece with the long length of strap on the OPENING part of the item (fridge, seat, etc), otherwise if it's reversed, the strap length + buckle tend to get caught/pbstruct the way when you close the item again. I have to get another pack because it's *really* annoying that the strap gets caught in the trash can or fridge every time I open it and the door closes on its own, even if I'm not necessarily 'locking' the strap for the day. Nevertheless, that was a lesson learned, and these still get 5 stars from me. Plus you can make doors absolutely taut with the strap locks as opposed to the door catch locks, which require two inches or so of space to access the push button, which is PLENTY of space for my kiddo to enjoy cracking open and slamming the door repeatedly (what a fun noise!). Obviously they're more expensive than those cheap drawer locks, but in many ways, this is the better product and probably worth the extra money in a lot of different places.

You Never Know where a Lock will be Needed!
These are easy to install without using any tools, and work flawlessly. My refrigerator freezer door would not stay shut completely and I needed something that would hold the door closed. Checked on Amazon and what do you know - they had just the kind of thing I needed. Ordered, quick delivery, and my freezer door now stays shut. Then my 2 year old German Shepherd decided he was going to get into the refrigerator one day while I was gone and I came home to a huge mess on the floor. Got another one of these locks out, installed it within a minute, and have foiled my GSD from opening the door. If you have a GSD, you’ll know how they don’t want you out of their sight. He then busted into the bathroom because he didn’t like that I was out of sight and broke the lock. Once again, another lock on the bathroom door on the outside and the inside in order to keep Mr. Troublemaker from deciding to see where I am. One just never knows where one will need this type of lock, but these have been a lifesaver so I don’t have to throw everything away out of my refrigerator and/or freezer and also have a few minutes of private time away from GSD prying eyes. Would definitely purchase again.

Latches kept out two naughty dogs!
After coming home to trash all over the house I suggested to my wife that we get these latches to keep our two medium sized dogs 46lbs and 55lbs out of the garbage can that used to live in our attached garage but due to a fire the garbage can is temporarily living in the house until construction is complete. When the latches arrived I installed them easily and they fit well. I did a quick test of knocking over the garbage can several times and the lid stayed firmly secured in place. Off to work my wife and I went and after a very long shift at the hospital I came home yesterday evening to find the garbage can pushed all the way to the other side of the kitchen and tons of bite marks and bits of plastic all over the place but the latches and lid were still firmly attached. I was amazed and pissed off all at the same time, these things are sturdy! I'm so happy the latches worked and I didn't have to pick up trash... I'm not so happy that I need to buy a new trash... maybe it time for a metal one. Really glad those obedience classes we did for the dogs paid off... 😓

These have finally stopped my cat from getting into the garbage, but the band stretches.
My cat is a menace who loves garbage. We'd tried a lot of different types of garbage cans, and none of them were any match for this idiot. Finally I figured I'd try some child locks before resorting to walking all of my trash directly to the dumpster outside. These locks have completely solved the problem, as well as kept him from getting into the drawer that his food is kept in. A park ranger at Yosemite once said, when explaining why they haven't managed to implement bear-proof garbage cans, "There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists." This applies quite aptly to these locks. The lock is, of course, made to keep children out of things, mean that it has to be difficult enough to open that a child would not figure it out. However, that means that when my friends are over and have to throw things away, they struggle to figure out how to undo the lock and open the trash can. When I've been out of town and had people watch my cats, I've had to send them a video of myself opening the lock on the food drawer, because explaining it in words never seems to work. This is a small price to pay, I suppose, to make sure children and animals are not getting into things. The band also stretches out quite easily. If someone accidentally pushes the peddle on the trash can to open it while it's still locked, the band will stretch just a bit, and after a while it's become stretched enough that you can slide some stuff into the garbage can without unlocking it, which is an issue. A stronger band would make this essentially perfect.

Works great and no damage when removed
Busy mom here. I don’t usually write reviews but I was super impressed with these so I’m taking the time to do so. I know these are primarily for cabinets. I ended up using it at the top of our front door to keep my toddler from running outside. It was on our door for 3 years. It was pulled on many times, sometimes really hard. It never broke or came loose. Finally today I went to remove it. I used my hair dryer for 60 seconds to warm up the adhesive, then gently used a butter knife to pry it off. At first there was sticky white adhesive left behind. I used my thumb and gently rubbed it away. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. There was zero damage to my door or the fake wood trim next to it. It looks like the latch was never even there. I’m beyond impressed with the quality of this lock and highly recommend it.

Super easy to install and use
These child safety locs for the cabinets are everything! We never child proofed the kitchen. We just slapped a gate at the entrance. We recently bought another gate to put in our basement but it was too short so we moved the gate that was previously at the entrance of the kitchen downstairs and the new gate upstairs. It was still too short but we managed to get the gate to fit with foam inserts but the gate door doesn't work properly because the wall is asymmetrical. Long story short, we've been stepping over the gate every time we need to into the kitchen. Since installing these we are finally able to allow her into the kitchen without her taking everything out of the cabinets. The installation was easy and the instructions were clear. Before I started I cleaned both spots that the adhesive would be placed in and let it dry. Then I took the lock and placed it on the cabinet to mark where I wanted to put the lock. Once I had that figured out I adjusted the strap. I took the end that was already pulled back and pulled it higher and pulled the strap until it was the right length. I find the end was a bit harder to lock in place but I pushed it against the counter to get it into place. Then I took the adhesive off the end with the sliding piece and placed it against the cabinet first then attached the other side of the adhesive. I held both ends for about two minutes to make sure it stuck. The instructions state to wait two hours before using but I didn't unlock it until the next day for good measure. My daughter tried to yank the door to the cabinet open with no luck. She's two years old, 3ft and 25lbs. Believe me when I say our daughter is pretty strong. Since she couldn't yank the door open I know the adhesive is strong. I'll update if anything changes. I was able to use it for the cabinet and the drawers. I love that the color of the lock compliments the color of the cabinet so it's not much of an eyesore. I am not sure how well the locks will hold up in the kitchen as well as the bathroom since both places tend to get pretty warm and humid. I'll update with any changes. I also wish this luck could fit the center angled cabinet. Hopefully the seller will see this review and create one.

Loved these until I hated them.
I loved these initially. Yes, they are very easy to install. My 1.5 yanked one off not long after having installed one. We put it back and it was fine. We had them installed all around the kitchen once he figured out how to open everything and consequently throw everything out of drawers and cabinets. They did the job and were easy enough to use when we needed to get into something. Fast forward to about three months later where now I am in the process of removing them. They DO NOT come off as easily as they show. I did the exact same thing that they show in the video and have thrown out a lot of string that breaks. The problem is that once they are stuck on there, they are REALLY stuck. There is no way to get the string right between the adhesive and the cabinet, so what ends up happening is that it cuts through in the middle of the adhesive and leaving a good amount still on the cabinet. I have been taking them off of my kitchen now for the last hour and my hands hurt from using the string! They eventually do peel off, but only little by little so it is a huge pain. If you know that you won’t need to take them off ANY time soon, and are willing to spend hours peeling off tiny little pieces of adhesive, then great, these will work. If you have the option of putting up a gate and just keeping your kids out of the area altogether, go with that option.
