Gravity Falls: Journal 3

I've been waiting to get my hands on this book ever since it was announced, but as I was about to order a copy on the day it came out, Amazon had sold out! So I had to wait a little longer until they were back in stock and I ordered right away for next day delivery.As soon as the mailman handed me the package, I opened it up and held the Journal in my hands, I read the whole thing from cover to cover in one day, all 288 pages. This is such a compelling read, I really loved reading this!Funny illustrations, great story and interesting facts about our favorite mysterious town in Oregon, this is such a necessity for any Gravity Falls fan! It'll give you information about the creatures and beings that inhabit the town, answer questions in the show and it is also a touching story about the importance of teamwork, friendship and family.Most of the book is written by "the Author", we follow his research and findings as a story unfolds when he mysteriously disappears off the face of the Earth. The book is then in the hands of Dipper Pines as he creates his own entries that follow along with the show, with help from his twin sister, Mabel.It is hand written, with the Author writing in joined up writing (cursive), it's pretty readable, there are a few words that might be hard to make out, but you'll figure out. Dipper and Mabel's writing is much clearer to read as it's printed in a simpler font.I also like that when you take the dust cover off, the cover doesn't have logos or reviews on it, it looks just like how it does in the show. But I also like that the inside of the dust cover doubles as a blueprint of Mcgucket's inventions, so don't throw it away too quick!I can't recommend this book enough, if there's one piece of Gravity Falls merchandise that you have to get, then follow Grunkle Stan's advice and "BUY IT TWICE!"

Fantastic graphic hardback book full of wonderful pictures and a great gift for a Gravity Falls fan. Bought it as a gift for my daughter’s friend’s bday and it was so good my daughter wanted one too!

The book is arriving today and I'm super excited! The only thing I won't like is Ford's handwriting, it's so hard to read! But I love Gravity Falls so FIVE STARS!

I love this book. I live this book. I adore every detail, every creature, every meta joke. Just its amazing.(The cover can be removed to reveal the beautiful hard-back book, removing the #1 Newyork times best seller as seen on the attached picture)Why just this weekend and my local independent coffee shop I read this book while relaxing, then when my guard was down it ripped out my spinal cord and kissed me on the cheek as I got to the part were the Author character relized their mistake.Would recommend this book to fans of the show, but they probably already have it. But even if you don't know the show I would still recommend it, as even though a few things may fly over your head, seeing the incredible creatures and the beauty of a biased unreliable narrator is sure to keep you reading .Easily my favourite thing.

(Spoiler free)I will point this out straight away. The book itself is HUGE. Have you see that Dipper and Mabel book guide? Yeah the Journal is 1/3 larger compared to that! So yeah kudo for Hirsh for making this book actuate while maintaining a low price. You really are holding the same book as Dipper was during the show!As for the book itself, it pretty much contain everything you want from the show, from the creature guide, the author written notes before he/she vanish while Dipper filled in the rest and more. All of the plotholes remained from the season final are finally resolved (Dipper real name, whereabout of Blendin in the final) in this book including ones I didn't think of like where that sci fi gun that character was holding at the finals? Heck it even contain alot of codes for the code cipher out there to decipher!The only nick-pick I have are-The creature guide is kinda less then I was expecting.Not every single episodes are mention in the journal especially those summer shorts.The possible shipping with Dipper and that girl is still left vague at best!Granted I think if they did added more pages, it had cost ALOT more so I am happy with the result (and Dipper noodle arms wouldn't able to carry it). I still highly recommend on buying it. I just help me to reignite my love for the show all over again if only temporary (now if only get the entire seasons boxset in dvd or blur ray next)!!

I actually wish I hadn't pre-ordered this, as it still wasn't dispatched for several weeks after it came out and yet I was still charged the price I ordered it at and not the price it had dropped to by the time I was dispatched, which made it all feel a bit pointless, but that's Amazon's fault, not the publishers'. Edit: I did get a refund of the difference just now, never mind.The book itself is well worth the money for any Gravity Falls fan, from young to old, containing every page of Journal 3 featured in the show and some extras written in the style of Dipper and Mabel related to the episodes of the show, all with an amazing level of detail. The actual cover is true to the show, with the same golden handprint, symbols and tears printed on, it's only the sleeve that bares the various logos, price, and blurb, though the sleeve also has a blueprint of Lil' Gideon's robot on the inside, which is a nice little extra.The only slight disappointment was that there is no "secret writing" on the blank pages, they're just blank, I tried checking them and some of the other pages with a UV "blacklight" and nothing showed, but the printed pages themselves are still wonderful.So if you're a fan you'll love it, if you're buying this as a gift for your kids or a friend who likes the show, they'll love it, it is an excellent product and in the end it was well worth the wait.
