Another fantastic story
I have been a huge fan of Mandasue Heller for some years now and have read all her books so when I had the opportunity to read & review her new book ‘Run’, I naturally jumped at it. Wowzers, I have to say that this is one heck of a book and in fact I think that it is the best Mandasue Heller book that I have ever read. Her fans are in for a real treat when it is released.Mandasue Heller writes in such a way that you can’t help but be drawn into the story. I found that I was gripped from the very first word on the very first page and before I knew it I had finished the book. It was almost as if the pages were turning themselves. It’s true that the story is a little slow to start with but I think that it is necessary to do it that way to develop a more rounded view of the characters and their backgrounds. As the book continues, the storylines gather pace until matters come to a head in a tense and dramatic conclusion. I almost had to read the book through my fingers as I genuinely feared what was going to happen next. This book is really well written with a good dose of authenticity in that Mandasue Heller writes with supreme confidence about certain issues that she has clearly experienced or has knowledge of. I found that ‘Run’ was a real ‘CPID’ (can’t put it down) book and the book travelled everywhere with me. I begrudged having to take out my two Labradors as I just wanted to read on.Characterwise, to start with Jake appears to a real charmer with looks and a caring personality but I couldn’t help but suspect that there was more to him than first appeared. At the start of the story I quite liked Jake but by the end of the book Jake made my skin crawl. To find out why you really should read the book. I really liked Leanne as she is a proud woman, who does not let her financial situation affect her standards. Leanne’s ex-boyfriend cheated on her and she is naturally wary of Jake when he tries to worm his way in to her affections. I also loved the character of Chrissie, who is Leanne’s best friend. She’s a ballsy lady from a tough background, who isn’t afraid to speak her mind.In short then I really, really LOVED this book and I can’t wait to read more by this very talented and very knowledgeable author. I would definitely recommend this book to others. I award this book 5* out of 5* but I would award it more if I could, as I thought that it really is that good.

An OK read but not that thrilling
I enjoyed this book, though I have to say it came across as more of a romance/drama at the start as opposed to a 'gripping crime thriller.' The characters were well drawn but much emphasis seemed to be on the developing relationship between the main characters and with little action until about 70% through. It trundled along at a nice enough pace to keep me interested, since there was definitely something shady about Jake. But I won't spoil it. The final third had me gripped to the end. After reading 'Tainted Lives' by the same author, I'm sad to say 'Run' fell a little short of my expectations. I found it tame by comparison, not nearly so gritty and with a somewhat abrupt ending. What I would describe as a quick and easy read.
